I have purchased HDFC ergo health insurance for my entire family 3 years back. Even though I never had a claim, I renewed every year to be on safer side for any emergency for my family. Unfortunately, few months back I had to visit a physician due to severe headache and jaw pain and he suggested for a minor surgery and hospitalization for 2 days. On the same day before getting admitted I contacted the HDFC health insurance regarding my case. They told me that the I can sent all the bills and claims form to them once I get discharged for reimbursement as cashless scheme is not available on this hospital.
I have submitted all the required document s they have instructed and cleared all the query they raised without any delay. It took around 3 months and they didn’t had the courtesy to inform the status of the claim to me during the process. At the end when I called the customer care yesterday, they simply updated me that my claim has been rejected by telling a stupid reason that this doesnt require any hospitalization. How can someone other than my consulting doctor can decide on this matter? When questioned, they didnt have a proper answer for this.
