I bought a car insurance policy from HDFC Ergo online. A soft copy was sent to me in a few days and all details were correct.
However, they did not send a hard copy. When I mailed them, they decided to send a car policy with the manufacturer and model name changed! The car became Volkswagen Jetta. I told them to correct the mistake, and the customer helpline was extremely unhelpful, as if I had made the error!
Fortunately, I had saved the soft copy, but this episode shows that the company is extremely incapable and is managed by youngsters who are not even careful while reading documents before signing. Changing the model name is extremely serious business and I wonder why they did not see the softy copy they themselves had sent me!
Avoid HDFC Ergo. I am sure there are other, better managed insurance companies.
