Brokers charge 25% more than permitted by IRDA

Mufaddal Insurance Consultants

avoid taking 3rd party cover from them - IRDA has set an upper limit for motor insurance and they charge 25% above the amount mandated.

1] never pay in cash despite them asking for it

2] never pay by cheque in any individual’s name either.

3] only by cheque in the insurance company’s name directly to protect your self from rs. 750 in over charges that are not permitted by law.

they promised the printed policy from hdfc would have the full amount but when we got it, the amt was 2, 951 while they encashed a cheque for 3, 700 - ergo will do nothing to help you either

buyer beware!

here is the mail that was sent to the CEO with no response to date [3 weeks]:

dear mr. kumar,

i have been cheated by an agent of ergo

the company is refusing to take any action against over charging customtakeouters for 3rd party cover

the least you can do is terminate your relationship with sub-agents who violate the rules

please don’t ignore the reputation damage such illegal actions cause to your brand

the amount is rs. 750 which maybe small for you but its 25% higher than the IRDA limit

mail sent to IRDA without response:

Subject: Fw: ’Service ID=005-475-829’ customtakeouter Complaints/Grievances

3rd party car insurance rates are set by IRDA

no agent can legally charge more than the specified rates

this is defrauding the customtakeouter

action needs to be take against the agent by HDFC

the reply from them is useless since the agent is refusing to refund the difference

hdfc ergo is being party to this illegal activity by not penalising the corrupt agent
