I always wanted to make Headlines Today my favourite channel. But whenever I turn to the channel, I quickly get forced to change the channel. I will tell the reason a bit later. First why I always want to make it my favourite channel? The first and foremost reason is its excellent onscreen colors. The shade of Orange colour they chose is exceptionally good. I have seen almost 50 news channels around the world. But no other channel matches the colors of HT. It is a very pleasant experience to my eyes. The news readers also look very attractive with a good accent. But there starts the bad point about HT.
The news readers’s accent sounds little foreign - definitely not India. I very much doubt HT gives some accent training to all its news readers, otherwise not all news readers can not possibly have similar accent. Then comes the most horrible point of HT. I just could not understand what the news readers were reading. I can not blame it on my TV for bad reception because I have a Tata Sky connection on a very good Onida Model. After a while I noticed that the problem was with the news readers reading very fast - so fast that they fail to maintain even bare minimum gap between words.
Then I verified ND TV, CNN IBN, and Times Now. I could easily understand what was being read on those channels. But the accent on those channels is distictly Indian. After trying HT a few more times I gave up the thought of making it my favourite channel. Now my favourite news channels are ND TV and CNN IBN. But whenever I watch those two channels, especially ND TV, I get reminded of what of I am missing - a beautiful display of HT. Ironically, ND TV is my first preferred news channel. But I just don’t like its colors onscreen.
