Weight loss – So close and yet so far.

If you?re expecting a magic formula to weight loss in this review, stop right here. I?m not offering a solution or advocating a weight loss programme. This is just summary of what I?ve learned over the last few years. But I hope what you read helps

Like almost everyone I know, I?m unhappy with my weight. No, I?m not fat but I could afford to shed a few kgs. I?ve tried every trick in every book? but the darned fat just won?t go away. So I sit back and think, what am I doing wrong. And I present to you why I think some of us just don?t lose weight.

  1. Bad attitude? We all want quick fixes. We start every diet, exercise and programme with a desire for immediate results. We want solutions like Lose 10 Kgs overnight or your money back. So we start a weight loss plan with many ambitions and good intentions and the lose heart if we don?t see results in a few days. Rule No 1 of weight loss? There is no shortcut.

  2. Lack of information? We?ve all been given different kinds of advice on weight loss. Who to believe? What to follow? Confusion, confusion and no weight loss. Decide on one plan, meet one person who can give you the right kind of advice on that plan? a doctor, a nutrition expert, a gym instructor, and then stick to that plan. Don?t go chasing 5 different ways to lose weight at one time because none of them will work for you.

  3. Starving and working out too much - Starving doesn?t work. Makes you put on weight. Your body hoards fat because it doesn?t know where it?s next meal is coming from. And working out too much means you need more food for more energy. Without the proper guidance, you tend to overeat and can?t control your food patterns. Result: Weight gain.

  4. Fad diets? Like I said we?re all looking for quick results and fad diets have done a fine job of tapping into this weakness. They make incredible promises, show you 5 case studies and hook you. You lose a little bit of weight and put it right back on. Most of these diets are dangerous and mess with your system. Beware. Check with a doctor before putting something you?re not sure about into your system.

  5. Cheating ? All of us believe that a little cheating won?t do any harm. Just keep a diary of what you eat and weigh yourself everyday to see what damage a little bit of cheating does.

  6. Unrealistic targets While the desire to lose weight is great, we lose the drive after a bit, because we have this vague notion of a thin body. Setting unreasonable goals always results in failure. Be reasonable? take small steps.

Of course, after knowing all this I still fall into all the traps that the journey to weight loss sets in my path, as mentioned above. But I?m happy to report that I have managed to lose 3 kgs in the last 2 months. Small steps but I?m getting there, I hope. And I wish all of you trying - Happy weight loss!
