Hero Honda has done it again. Ambition carries with it the same reliability and almost same mileage as Splendor albeit with much more power. In 1998, I bought HH Splendor. It served me for 4 years and I was in love with the bike. But all this ended suddenly when it was stolen in September last year.
After waiting for about 6 months for it to be recovered, I started looking for a new bike. Splendor was great, but now that I had graduated and started working, I wanted to upgrade. The options were Ambition, Pulsar and TVS Fiero. I rode pulsar owned by one of my friends and it was out of the race that moment. To me, easy handling and riding comfort are much more dearer than how I look sitting on my bike. After test riding the other two, there was no doubt that I wanted Ambition. The bike is so comfortable and easy to handle, its miles ahead of others on these fronts. And combine HHs legendry mileage and you get your Powerfuel bike.
During the first month, I continuously kept myself in control and never let the speedometer pass 60 km mark. On Diwali night, I was returning from a friends home on Airport Road in Bangalore and I noticed the odometer reading to be
- I could control myself no longer and revved up the throttle. Withing seconds, I was zooming at 95 kmph before the traffic & road conditions forced me to slow down. The bike was in absolute control even at 95.
Another great feature is that it is a silent beast. The bike makes almost no noise while idling and even at high speeds, you can hear noise of other bikes on road to be much higher than that of Ambition.
The mileage has been just 50-52 kmph so far, but that can easily be attributed to traffic conditions in bangalore, where I spend more than 15 mins to reach my office just 4 km away.
