CBZ Extreme - The beginning of a love story

There are bikes and there is the CBZ EXTREME. And the CBZ EXTREME is more than a bike, it is an experience. I owned the Kawasaki Bajaj 10 years ago and I could write a book about my experiences.  And I thought I was loyal to the Bajaj family! I fancied owning the Pulsar 220 but could not make it to the test launch when a few bikes were given away and then I saw the CBZ EXTREME in November 2006.

It was still not launched then and I could not wait to get my hands on it. And in January I was told there is a one month waiting for it. I was frustrated and almost bought the Pulsar 150 but still decided to take a chance and looked up the Hero Honda numbers in my city and called their sales team. I explained to them that I was in town for only 10 days and would be going away for 4 months so I would like to enjoy the EXTREME for just 10 days. And they made it happen!

The next day I was told to go to a dealer and get the bike.

And that is the beginning of my new love story.

A 10 minute ride on the bike is enough to refresh you for the day! I do not drive a lot and certainly not to work or to buy onions and potatoes. For that we have the reliable TVS Scooty at home. The EXTREME is meant to get the creative juices flowing. Every time I think of the EXTREME, I become poetic. Biking is for pleasure and the CBZ gives you plenty of it.

On the technical side, the one thing that makes the bike stand out is the integrated tail lamps. No bike in any class has the looks of the EXTREME from the rear. And then the seat – the softest in its class and probably any class. I don’t care about mileage and I don’t care about horse power. And the ride is great.

I only wish they had given a gear indicator to show which gear you are riding in so you do not handle the vehicle roughly.

But, this is the beginning of a love story and watch out for this space as there will be a lot to come. I am an adventurer at heart and will push the bike to share a lot more about my experiences.
