LIVE Xtreme !!!!

Here is my review on my Xtreme at 5, 000 kms. Before buying Xtreme in B’lore(came here few months back),  I was riding Caliber115 and Kinetic-Nova135 in Kolkata.

In Dec’06, I had couple of test rides at Millinium showroom @ Domlur ring road along with my friend. I was totally happy with the test ride and my friend who has Pulsar DTSi asked me to for Xtreme w/o second thought. After a waiting period of 43 days I finally got the black Xtreme on 08th Feb. Yesterday I completed 5, 000 kms and here is a short report,

Riding/Handling is a big plus of this bike, though the bike is huge, the riding is very simple and easy to handle in ’bumper to bumper’ traffic of B’lore. I’m just 5’6" and I never felt that Xtreme would suit me, the bike is big, I’m small but I enjoy riding Xtreme- very strange?. The riding posture is very relaxed and comfortable and one can ride this bike all day long without any uncomfortness. The bike is very good for week-end get-aways upto 200 kms. I made a trip with my friends to Mysore last month.

Engine is borrowed from Unicorn, it is very smooth and sprints like a bull, any 150cc biker can distinctly find out the ’more’ power of the bike within minutes of riding it. My friends call it "Mini-Karizma". Gear shifting was a pain when new, sometimes I have switched to wrong gears, but after 5 days or so I’m used to gear patterns and I’m shifting gears correctly. Braking is good, the rear could have been much better. Since discs were new to me I had some problems in the begining.

Mileage on trip to Mysore (reserve to reserve) : 56 km/ltr (average speed was about 70 km/hr), In B’lore it’s about 45 to 50 km/ltr depending on road, number of traffic signals, traffic jam etc etc. I’m satisfied with Milinium Motor servicing, but it’s very crowded service center. I did my IInd free service at Shreyas (a km away from Millenium) due to jam packing at Milinium motors, they are also good,  no differentiation even though I didn’t buy my bike here.

Conclusion : The machine is very powerful and accleration is fantastic. Power delivery is crisp, refined and seamless. The vibrations set in at about 80-85 km/hr and then again eases after crossing 90 km/hr and it roars. Max. speed I have attained so far is 90-95 km/hr on NICE road (B’lore-Mysore). In B’lore city I seldom reach 70 km/hr.

If you are planning for 150cc bike go for Xtreme. Pulsar, Unicorn and Apache owners have used my bike and are jealous about Xtreme. Xtreme clearly stands out  of the crowd :) even with that silly front.

I will update this review after 15, 000 kms with more details.

Thanks

Pradyut
