Hero Honda unveils yet another bike in its venture to captivate those who are forced to compromise on looks and power due to a monetary constraint! Not having succeeded in its venture with the amibition, and the HH supersplendor leaving a lot on looks to be desired, prima-facie I feel has got its chemistry right on Glamour. I am a youngster who cannot afford a 45k+ bike, but refuse to compromise on looks, having seen my friends buy the unicorn that rip the road. So for all those guys who are in my kind of a dilemma, this is the one.
MILEAGE:
Its also important to give utmost importance to the mileage parameter...This bikes going to be with you for atleast 4 years...I cant imagine what the cost of a litre of petrol would be 4-5 yrs from now, with the international prices already sniffing $60 a barrel. And definitely getting a bike purely based on power impractical.
HOW different is SuperSplendor from Glamour???
The bike is pretty much a Super Splendor configuration which does not perturb you about its performance or mileage. It would be naive to expect a radically different bike in Glamour than Super Splendor. To put it in lay mans terms, its different attire on the same man, with glamour indeed being glamorous.
POWER:
I had a test ride on the bike and trust me, the bike aint a minnow. Its not the kind of bike that rips the circuit, but it is not sluggish either...Power , however, is something that the bike is short of.
BRAKES :
I would give it a 7.5/10...you may call that good enough.
FINAL WORD:
Whether this bike has got enough in it to beat its rival Discover, we would have to wait and see. I would say go for the GLAM, cos of the name HH and its customer service which is impeccable.
update: its basic model (drum brake & kick start) costs 49k onroad...
