As it is my first review using proper English Verbiage and Grammer. Be patient and go through the review as it is a little lengthy one and share your valuable feedbacks too.
After going through many reviews purhcased a new Hunk (Ferrari Red Color). My craze had been for Unicorn & Hunk definitely decided should not be a Pulsarian as it is omnipresent in Chennai roads.(having couple of engine probs too)
Not quite new to biking. Just for 2 years had been riding my Bros bike Honda Unicorn. Another marvellous bike. Engines refinement too soothing & my first learning was in it. But occasionally rode LML Freedom too.(Good bike but poor Marketing). On all reviews Unicorn topped, however since had already used it (looks not too attractive) choice was to go for Hero Honda.
Am not completing the ratings currently as it is too early to rate without seeing the performance which might mis-lead. May be once I cross 1000kms will include my Complete Ratings as then only I feel it is fair.
Dreadful Nights
I feared to ride bikes initially and was preferring for scooterettes but after riding Unicorn things changed. I get dreams of riding 10 bikes at the same time as Lord Krishna used to ride the horses. Yes all these years think have missed the pulse of it. Unicorn was a new bike as well (3 years old now) and I was new to bikes. Combination of both - what else eagerness, hunting, roaring, zooming, trembling.
Yes at times was trembling as faced lots of gear shifting problems. I loved to zoom in free roads, we have ECR in chennai too good for cruising but in traffic each and every traffic signal I would damage the gears to the core. Informed the dealers too. No use. Shortly got adjusted to the Bike. However not satisfactory and blamed my riding skills.
With this mindset went for a test ride in Hunk. Gears little bit hard. Salesman told due to the change of driving had this issue and over a period of time things will become normal. Bought it. Initially the gears were good but over a period of 15 days time gave similar problems.
My life became miserable and within days I was very much feeling for buying this bike as I rode on CBZ xtreme a new one which was too smooth. So could not bear it. Went to the showroom in 15 days from buying and they resolved in just 3 mins. I could not believe. Would it mend the problem really.....But it did the miracle.
Solution for Hard Gear Shifting
My suggestion to all new buyers is that prior to the delivery of the vehicle, please ask the service guys to remove the shift pedal, apply white grease and oil two or three times and fix it back. Believe me it gives "Makkan jaise Gearing, I bet one of my ears be cut" (check the chain sagging too)
For riders who have already used a 150cc bike for sometime and if they feel it too hard follow point 1 for 2 or 3 times a week and also adjust the clutch to half-clutch. I have done enough research on this and if anyone has gear shifting problems contact me, goes without saying after trying to ride with right throttling and Clutching. (Required RPMs levels for 1st, 2nd gears and so on)
Heard from few of my friends that shift pedals which is having toe pedalling with half levers are manufactured so precise that within 2 or 3 mms of applying, gears could be changed to the next gear and no necessity for pedalling like tailor pedalling a conventional tailoring machine.
LOOKS
Simply Smashing Looks. Anywhere in the traffic signals people stare at me and my bike. Not because new but due to the Ferrari Red Color and Design. BECAUSE MUSCLES MATTER. I preferred to have this bike only due to its looks and except for its design specs are one and the same for Hunk & CBZ Xtreme. To me all in the 150ccsegments are more or less one and the same having its own advantages and disadvantages. Apache is 160cc but mileage below 40 etc. If we had a closer look TVS FLAME without graphics might look like Hunk. Awaiting anxiously for the 6 gear GS150cc from Suzuki too.
FUEL CONSUMPTION
Mileage - 45 to 48 ( in 400kms not even given to first service). I just expect it to give just 40-45 am glad for a high-end bike but noiseless, pollutionless, powerful and eco-friendly driving.
DRIVING EXPERIENCES
Had been not to any long rides till now. My Bull is yet to thunder our neighbourhood roads, waiting for crossing 1500 kms to get good engine refinement.
CONS
I feel should have good driving skills to ride 150 CC bikes unlike 100 CC roadies.Little bit of shoulder problems am feeling (not sure if it is due to my Gym classes or due to the bike). I will experiment on the bike and come back.
To all who knew not more on Biking defintely go through the Bike Manual. Not making little corny but when u read the manual you understand the machine and on a later date dont complain one reason for another. No time to read ask a bookie to read and get the crux of the contents from him.
For instance, normal puncture shops suggest to have 38-40 ps for rear tuff-up tubes whereas really required is just 29 for rider and 33 with pillion (for Hunk). If you have 35 and above (which generally people have) riding control on bumpy roads is less, and with a pillion rider, cushioning effect on the road is little. So, well-verse the Manual as BIBLE.
Just thought of sharing something additional to the bike review thats all.Hunk is always a Hunk and never could become a Junk.
Luv To,
