Would be a li’l surprised to hear this. I have done 950 kms. On my Hero Honda karizma (would hence forth be referred to as zima225) in the month of November 2004 I drove from Delhi to Ahmedabad in less than 24 hrs running almost continuously.
Imagine crossing entire Delhi, Haryana, and entire Rajasthan and then till Ahmedabad. One hell of a journey it was. And the best part was the mileage I got; an average of 51+ kms per litre with normal unleaded petrol and no additives.
If some one wants to try this here are a few tips try to maintain an average speed of less than 70 kms per hr at an engine speed of less than 4500 rpm if possible take frequent breaks say every three hours or so and let the engine cool off for about 15-20 minutes while u have a cup of tea for urself avoid brisk accelerations and hard breaking efforts and do not carry too much luggage this was the mistake that I had made.
My backpack was more than 25 kilograms in weight thus resulting in tremendous back ache and short term injuries to the spinal cord after about 24 hrs of continuous running.
All in all it was a great experience I had gone to see my lady she was so shocked to see me there that I can’t express it in words added advantage u see !!! I really feel that all this would not have been possible had I not owned a karizma I wasn?t sure if I would be able to complete the trip when I had started from Delhi.
But as the day progressed and so did the journey as well as my confidence in the excellent engineering skills of HONDA and I had completed the last 125 kms at speeds in excess of 80 km per hr by that time the bike had already done abt 850 kilometers and had been run for approx 22 hrs.
And when I reached Ahmedabad the sound of the engine was just as fine as it was when I had started from Delhi a day earlier hats off to this fine machine that we have been introduced to in the form of hero Honda karizma oops... zima 225
Mileage done so far 7500 kms in just less than 4 months.
