Ever wondered what if u take a commuter bike for a race?. Ever wondered what is that which makes any bike a Commuter or a Racer?. Who will win the race amongst commuter bikes?. What are the Mods popular amaong commuter bikes?Well, I hope to give u the answers for these ques here.
Passion Plus from HH has been for a reasonably long time. It was released shrtly after the success of HH splendour. Though it shares the same 97CC, 7.5 BHP engine like its sister, the performance figures are very very different. This bike is a commuter. the reason I say so is cos of its low engine capacity, power and weight. The following specs are best for Passion+ in both Commuter and racing mode.
For a normal commuting:
1st Gear - 10km(all figs in MAX)
2nd Gear - 20km
3rd Gear - 30km
4th Gear - 40-50km
Mileage usually between 60-65 kmpl
When overtaking, ALWAYS shift down!
Check/Change engine oil every 15 months
Check brake shoes every 6 months
Dont change stock tyres unless its exhausted.
And now for the much awaited racing type:
1st Gear - 10 km(all figs in MAX)
2nd Gear - 25 km
3rd Gear - 45 km
4th Gear - 70-85
Top speed 87 kmph
Mileage usually between 50-55 kmpl
Change engine oil every 6 months
Check brakes shoes every 2 months
while slowing down from above 70 km use, engine braking(shift to 3rd gear and leave clutch slightly when applyin both front and rear brakes.
Dont negotiate a turn with more than 65 km, this bike may skid at high speeds.
Change to Zapper rear and front tyres, however dont increse the size!
Change handlebar, put short ones(M-type or Furys)
And now for the Mods(for racing):
Change Handle bar to Fury type
Take our rear view mirrors
Alloys(Pref Black)
Lower clutch play
Replace silencer with Bigger after market ones
Race in 100cc bikes( 1.3KM).Bikes(stock)considerd
TVS Star City
HH Passion Plus
HH CD Dawn
Yamaha G5
Bajaj Platina
Race Results:
1st place - Yamaha G5(Top speed - 85 kmph)
2nd Place - Bajaj Platina(86 kmph)
3rd Place - HH CD Dawn, Passion Plus(88, 87 kmph)
4th Place - TVS Star City(82 kmph)
Passion plus is a good bike for commuting especially for city(cos of good low-end torque), however it fails to impress on highway as well as a racing bike. Also, this bike is at its best when riding in singles. A 70 kg pillion will make this bike to travel like a Buffalo(very cumbersome and shaky).
Hope u enjoyed my review.
