PASSION + - best family bike , sylish and comfort

i am Nizam , Madurai

i have bought my new passion plus (magna red) on 15 may 2007

on road it costs 47300 (incl vat+extra )

let me categorize on 5 aspects ,

*pickup , mileage , handling , maintainence , my concusion and alterations

( for new buyers (or) current pass+ riders )

See !! My friend here(madurai)  has passion (firstmodel) and

he has been  driving it for 4 years, I too have tried it manytimes

and i  have travelled to kodaikanal(a hill station, tamilnadu)

more than 4 times(a trip once costs 300 kms sure , 150kms

in hills alone!! ), so dont think my  review as a "fresh" guy

driving passion+,  I am also once a proud owner of

Splendor(99model -> run 1, 40, 000 kms or more) until i

sold it for 21000 , (so sont think me as a new driver too)and

bought this bike, OK , still I have the chance often driving his

passion.

*pickup :

It delivers decent pickup , for 97cc engine

(though it lags behind splendor 1999 model first model -

and cd100 ss sure )

the gear ratios could have been a little bit better

1st gear and 4th gear gives better usage mostly

while 2nd and 3rd offers useless

(honda shine offered well on gear ratios, although its a 125 cc)

sure it will need a choke in the morning or in a hill station

for the day’s first kick

  • but pickup wont let u down, it will be same even for a triples ,

it does not jerk on shifting and no  noise in shifting

HH tells its max pulling capacity is 170 kgs ,

never mind pass + is mostly for triples

i give 85% marks for pickup

Mileage:

"

herohonda assures u a decent mileage of 70+ (std conditions)

it surely offers u 62 kmpl sure in any condition(city or village etc)

you easily get a 75kmpl on tuning on some RPM (rider only)

(remember on tuning TVS centra gives 85 - 90 kmpl,

baj ct100 gives 80 kmpl sure )

Handling:

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Its the best in its class , its ahead leaving all 100cc bikes

NOW behind ...

it has a rock solid and stable handbar , steady and comfortable

And note: this is not for short persons and school boys

( u should be nearly 6 feet to fit along with the look of the bike )

Its heavier ( well balanced build) than most of its

competitors and so offers better road grip with 3inch back

tyre (default) .It has a good and better shock absorbers

( especially rear one ) it works well even when there

is a third person in the bike

Though its disc brake version failed in market , the drum

brakes  are performing well than expected

IT NEVER SKIDS ON ROADS , EVEN ON SUDDEN

BRAKES (i lost control with bikes like CT100 and met

with self - injury  because the bike always tries to fall

over the rider than ground) , so pass + scores here also

marks : 90

Maintainence:

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

As usual HH offers excellent spares and replacements ,

so dont worry ( but make sure they are original if u are

servicing outside ) but spares cost more than other

indian bikes other than HH

marks : 80

My conclusion and alterations I expect are

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Its head light is best in HERO HONDA , but **buy a HALOGEN

*LAMP (white flash) and fix it

Since its handling is great , better use a **short-handbar

( fury), **it looks cool too and never affects the bike’s

stability

*No fittings are provided for the pillion to hold

*( if a lady is at the back the only hold is her rider )

HH by default provides TVS tyres , atleast change

rear tyre to a BEST MRF NYLOGRIP brand , it will offer

better DRY BRAKING ON INDIAN ROADS than tvs tyres

Dont ever think of fitting a  SHINY ALUMINIUM

COLOURED ALLOY   WHEEL , it will affect all the

looks , if u need go for BLACK ones

Dont worry or waste money in doing sticker works ,

beacause HERO HONDA lives only by that,

if u remove it the bike will be ugly ,  sure!!

The HORN given by default is not that alarming ,

better use a **PIPE or ROOTS AUTO horn

*it will costs 500 or less

If u are an outside service giver go for

SERVO brand oils

rather than hero honda ones or castrol ones ,

make sure OIL LEVEL is good always ,

its the point where engine life is

Looks , next to CBZ (2000 model) , this is the *

best looking bike in HH **,  it looks really majestic and

better seat styling and

( what u say man --> ergnomics !!! )

Overall :  I will give 85%
