I am writing a review on Splendor + after using it for about 10 months. I already have a P150. I would like to tell you my observations.
I am very disappointed with the deal I got for the 46K I shelled out for it. Reasons being as follows:
- *ZERO IMPROVEMENTS COMPARED TO CONTEMPORARY BIKES:
I know I should not be complaining about it as I knew the pros and cons bfor purchasing this bike. But I would definitely like to mention that while almost all competitors have made some improvements in its segment by providing some improvements in design, Self Start, Electrical improvements, Paint quality , Engine refinements , alloy wheels etc, Splendor is the same old bike when it hit the roads way back a decade ago only difference in the "+" which suffixes the name! Its old and Spoilt wine in the same old bottle! . **Naturally when someone is paying half a lakh, he would expect some basic features nowadays which has practically become the norm like self start etc. But this bike is a total disappointment.
*2. POOR BUILD QUALITY
The build of this bike is simply pathetic. The metal used is of inferior quality, electricals are pathetic, Battery life is useless (Went off in 3 mths).HH is cheating the public by increasing profit margin on its flagship model. Also friends anyone can notice the difference between the Original old Splendor and the new splendor + in terms of the quality of the build. HH has economized on Metal usage thereby increasing its margin.Ultimately qquality is terribly affected. Also friends, I live in Chennai where we have some flyovers, the minute a car whizzes near the splendor the whole bike shakes ! Can you imagine this nonsense ! I have ridden almost all the other bikes like Discover, Yamaha etc and have never experienced such a poor road grip and a flimsy feel. It is a moped having a 100 CC engine! **My old Samurai had a fantastic road grip.
*3. ZERO COMFORT
*As a result of the poor build, I daily complain of severe back pain.. Totally disappointed, I have decided to chuck away this scrap and go for a P180 even if it costs more...
*4.UNSAFE FEEL
*The handling is not at all safe... At 40 Km/Hr this bike has the capability to Skid on normal roads leave alone wet roads. The splendor is vested with a narrow tyre compared to other bikes in its segment...The handle bar positioning, cornering etc are all disadvantegeous to me. I dontknow if its due to my height as I am 6 Ft tall. Its puzzling !
*5. SERVICE
*To be honest, HH has a good service backup...But whether its my bad luck or not these guys didnt fix the front fork properly during first delivery ...As a result the handle bar and the front tyre were not in Sync. Only after a good blasting, they fixed this. They have some good marketing tactics like this passport and other stuff...But who cares about this man when a proper service is not done?!
6 POOR ELECTRICALS
The bulb quality is damned poor. Controls are too flimsy. Indicators are bad and horn is weak.
*6. NOT A PROUD FEELING TO OWN THIS BIKE
To be honest, I have been ashamed to ride it in the midst of a Star City or a Discover , a Victor or a YAM Gladiator or a Libero. This makes you feel small bcos of the oldness of design and the cheapy feel it gives as being a Budget Bike without any of the features.I wouldnt like to be dubbed as a simple simon by my friends. This is purely personal and I dont intend to hurt peoples sentiments. **But the Cost Benefit analysis does not measure up. I would rather advice ppl to go in for a Discover.
I am going in for the legendary breed of Pulsars.. I have sold this useless thing and booked a P 180 ....I wont go in for a HH anymore ...
