I have been riding a SPLENDOR for about more than 8 years. Actually, some other company says that their bike isTHE NO PROBLEM BIKE. But honestly the first model SPLENDOR is truely the NO PROBLEM BIKE.I have done all the services correctly and have also completed the warranty period without any need for warranty!! It took 45 days to get the bike after booking. The SPLENDOR was the most selling bike at that time and even now it’s the same. Now there is no need for waiting.Give cash, take home the vehicle. That’s all, but my bike was bought long time before Indian bikes had self ignition.Till now there is no self ignition for splendor.
STYLE- The name SPLENDOR itself means BEAUTY. The SPLENDOR has overall a pleasing look.well, to say, an ordinary bike with something special in it!! I think, at that time the only vehicle with the front shield was the SPLENDOR.The engine looks a little small in size. But I don’t think, for a 100 cc bike a large engine is needed to improve the looks. The utility box on the top of the engine however makes the extra engine room seems filled. I think the shape of the seat should be improved a little more. The handle although is not so stylish, but has a comfortable grip. The shape of the tank is in correct propotion with its overall body shape. The meter guage looks fine, the only problem is that there is no trip meter. The design for the new +bike has been changed. Also the headlight , tail light and the winkers are multi reflectors. The headlight comes with halogen bulb in the +bike. The overall colours and stripes have changed. For city ride?I don’t see any extra sized fittings? No problem!!
COMFORT- According to me, comfort is a great factor when riding. The seating comfort of old SPLENDOR is little something to compromise.Maybe, a little bit gripless. But it could be solved by a soft cushioning with a new seat cover. There, the problem is solved! The SPLENDOR+ has a well cushioned low-slung seat which helps you rest and ride at the same time. The SPLENDOR cannot be driven long routes continuosly.Good for city ride!Well, if you insist, try it for yourself! Its shock absorber could take maximum load without problem, considering the power of course. The old SPLENDOR has the same telescopic hydrolic fork suspension as the SPLENDOR+.Also it has hydrolic spring loaded type suspesion at the rear which gives the +bike a plus point in riding comfort .The gear shifting is very easy.I like that kind of gear pattern, shifting all gears to one sides, unlike the other gear types, where one has to search for the neutral between the first and second gears. The engine sound is very pleasant to the ears.
POWER- About power, for a 4 stroke bike with 100cc and 7.5 bhp, the power is what it should feel.Isn’t it?No special technologies at that time I think!and also weighs 101kgs.Comparitively lesser than other models. Now the kerb weight of SPLENDOR+ is 109 kgs. As it is not designed as a heavy load carrying vehicle, Enough or more to carry two people with more than average weight, at 65 to 70 kms/hr.Considering the drum brakes and the road grip, one should think before taking to that speed.and yeah, according to the rules of course! After the first model SPLENDOR, the euro2 version came. They say it reduces pollution and also gives more mileage. But I felt that it is affecting the power of the euro2 models.I think my SPLENDOR did 90km/hr but the SPLENDOR+ can only reach upto 85km/hr.The company also says so.The initial pickup is good.If POWER is very much bothering you, then this is not the review you should be reading!
MILEAGE- For a normal rider with not exceeding speeds between 45 to 65 kms/hr, The mileage should not be less than 65 kms/ltr. The mileage which the company says is 75 kms/ltr which may come down to 60 kms/ltr at the roughest conditions, which I think is a negotiably a fair figure!Do the service regularly, the mileage will be, what you think it should be.The fuel tank capacity of old SPLENDOR is 10.5 litres with around 1ltr in reserve. In SPLENDOR+ it is 1.4 litres in reserve. Also both the SPLENDOR models meets the pollution control standards.
HANDLING- I don’t think SPLENDOR has any handling problems. The handling is perfect unless any failure in shock absorber or any bend in the rim occurs, which only occurs with a rough rider!I mean, the SPLENDOR is not ment for rough handling, although it has an endurance power to a limit like everything else.I would say, AN EXECUTIVE BIKE WITH AN ELEGANCE!.also no Indian bike with 100 cc is designed for rough terrain.I feel, air friction is not a problem for handling the SPLENDOR at times.I have gone beyond the 90kms/hr point with the splendor once.Even though it is a “no margin for error zone”, well just curious to know how the bike would behave! No doubt! It did well! Please, only when the road is clear!
RELIABILITY- Not only SPLENDOR, but one thing I have noticed in all the 100 cc bikes is their small tyres which means lesser grip. Maybe the 100 cc power may not be enough to compromise with the wide tires or maybe the pulling power of the vehicle may reduce, maybe it affects the mileage. One thing I believe is that safety should not be compromised with anything else. The grip is an important factor for proper controlling of the vehicle in situations like, sudden braking or quick turning expecially in rainy coditions. In the case of splendor also the case is same.My opinion about disc brakes in SPLENDOR..Well..would have been necessary if splendor had a little more weight and a bit more pickup.About SPLENDOR+, the weight has increased a little more and also the disc brake is an option now.My advice is to drive slow and carefully in those slippery conditions! Remember DONT CHEAT THE BIKE, THE BIKE WONT CHEAT YOU!’got it?
QUALITY- The engine and carburettor is colaboratted with japanese company.Still the spare parts are comparatively lower in cost than other bike spares. The wear and tear is very low.(also depends upon how the bike is used, serviced and handled). About the paint quality, the black colour is more longlasting than the red colour.Normally, i have seen the red paint gradually turns into an yellowish orange colour after a long time. But the black paint remains almost the same as before.I am not sure about the new colours the +bike have.About the brake pads, The metal coated parts are still like new in my bike.I am not sure, but I have heard that the first batch of bikes manufactured have quality genuine parts and it reduces with the coming batches manufactured.Well, since the new SARVA GUNA SAMPANNA VIJAYI SUPER SPLENDOR 125CC IS LAUNCHED, I don’t know how it is going to affect the old 100cc SPLENDOR.But one thing I know that, The grandfathers are always stronger than their grandsons!Even if they are 25cc less!!
COST?? It’s worth it! WANT TO BUY? Well, I already have one.
Cons-No trip meter, No self ignition starting, Need a little more wider tyre at rear, Silencer needs a change in shape.
Pros-Good mileage, Good for city riding, Good looks and design, Smooth gear shifting.
