Well Splendor is the most selling bike.. because there are no other engines which are reliable & hence has more resale value. Other than engine there is no difference.
Design flaws
[1.] The headlight is not aerodynamic hence you get dangerously pulled-in by wind when a truck moves past you on highway.
[2.] The headlight is not powerful, god take care of you in monsoon downpour you cannot see beyond 2 mts
[3] The manufacture tried to cut costs with plastic body & parts, you know insurance does not cover plastic parts, & when they break(mostly in touch-accidents) they areexpensive to replace, which is post payment you do to the cost of your vehicle.
[4] Cost-cutting is done with length/height of rear-mirrors.(dangerous)
[5] The petrol tank cover starts to rust after the first monsoon.
The number of itsy-bitsy parts are more. I recently had to put a new side plastic lock, which by the way has common key for all splendors, (so your safe-compartment is open for thieves) cost me 50Rs, I think it is too much for a plastic-rod, a spring, a iron clip & ring The Chinese can do this for under 15Rs in mass production.
With every new model they tout features, there is no improvement or useful additions, except here & there shape/color changes. The cost does not justify what you get in the bike. The bikes engine power is too low for 2-1/2(husband-wife-kid) considering Indian conditions. Ideally 120-140cc should be ok. 150cc is over-kill. I dont expect an engine which revs up to 100km in 5 seconds..I would use the vehicle for commuting not racing..
Yeh dil mange more: What I expect is like extra luggage hook, the blinking lights should auto-turn off when you complete a turn or hazard-blinking of front & rear lights(like cars), more powerful head-lamp/battery, disc-breaks by default, all under 40, 000 Rs.
Mileage Its is common knowledge(chemistry) that more the cc(engine barrel size in Cubic Centimeters) less is the mileage. So you cannot compare a 100cc bike to 110cc bike & quote it is efficient. How much do I get per cc ?i.e how efficient is the engine in converting a drop of petrol into motion(burn). The vehicle efficiency = mileage of the vehicle/cc of the vehicle for a litre of petrol. (example for splendor efficiency equals 65km-per-litre divided by 97cc ) This value has not changed for most of our Indian 2-wheeler models from past 5 years.
But hero group has the habit of not decreasing price unless they see that their models are not selling.
