Make way for the STREET

Looking out for moving in a city with ease and pleasure and comfort and luxury and carefree and ....... Street Smart is the answer. Hero Honda Street is at it’s best right now with it’s latest upgrade (Street Smart from the old Street 100). The one of it’s kind with auto clutch facility. This feature has made it a very easy to ride bike. Has the easiness of a gearless bike and the power of a geared one (not to be compared with the high end bikes like the Pulsars and Winds).

While this review will sound positive, the bike has not been a market ’puller’. It pains to be honest :-( Yes, this bike is considered to be a failure as it did not rock the sales figures for Hero Honda. However. I’ve enjoyed my association with this bike.

Anyone above 5’6’’ shouldn’t buy this bike. Your bike should complement your looks. On the other hand, this is a definite yes to all those who would like to graduate from Kinetic Hondas and Scootys. Ideal for the age-group of 18 - 22. Best deal for girls who are looking for power and style with ease factor of a Kinetic Honda. My friend, Saloni would agree with me any day. She bought the new Street Smart under my influence and she’s finds more than 6 good reasons why she should have avoided Kinetic Honda. She has been using the bike for over a year now and has been extremely happy with it’s performance considering that it’s also helping her save fuel expense. There’s no reason why you should say no to this bike if you want to settle down for a Kinetic Honda or any of those gearless bikes.

The bike is very sleek and economical, both mileage wise and price wise. Priced at 33k for the kick start version, this bike gives you 65 - 70 Km/litre.

Rotary gears are a great help. You can stop your bike at top gear and one touch and it’s back to neutral. Some dislike the bike’s shape, but she is a beauty according to me. While this can’t be compared to a bike like the Wind or the Pulsar, this should be considered as a smart bike. I won’t rate it the best among all it’s competitors but still she is a favourite of mine for it’s carefree and fabulous unique features.

Features that are missing in almost all other bikes:

  1. Rotary Gears 1>2>3>4>N>1>2....

  2. No clutch (Hassle free. Reduce accelerator and change gears)

  3. Kick start is so gentle (glide your leg down and engine is into life)

  4. Top Gear indicator

  5. Fabulous storage space under the handle

Hero Honda is famous for it’s quality. Regular servicing is all you need for the bike to be like a friend, always dependable.
