HHSS after 50K running

My second witeup on MS. First one being in ZMR department. Please note I would never like to write on specs on paper. I will only compare what I pay and what I get in return. About My HHSS. I would simply say that this bike is great and I don’t regret my decision to buy it.

Now it’s been over 4 years and 50K Kms. The bike is still in superb condition and performing very stable.

Power Pickup:

Great power and pickup. I travel double seat 90% times and still I feel for the money you pay this is really nice in power and pickup. 0-60 is not useful for me in dense traffic in Pune. I can really zip through with the provided torque and power.

Average:

HHSS is good good at fuel economy and my bike has consistent average of 50Kmpl with p[ayload of about 145 KG in full morning at evening traffic in Pune. This really makes me feel good. On highways if you at between 40 - 60 Kmph you can achieve 60+ average. The average really drops beyond 60Kmph as it is not designed to do so.

Handling:

Handling in traffic is good as the bike is small and short. Cornering is easy because of its short nature and feels safe. However, at high speeds (80 and above) SS is not stable. First of all with the company fitted tyres (The original tyres were of really bad quality and small 2.75x18) the bike is very unstable at 60+ speeds. After 25K I changed tyres (Front 2.75x18 and rear 3x18) and the bike handling improved superbly. But still at 80 Kmph and above I don’t feel the bike much stable. The bike has vibration between 50 to 60 Kmph but below 50 it is very sommth and between 60 to 70 kmph it runs smooth as well. Top speed achieved by me is 90Kmph. Breaking is very good. however you will need good tyre as well for the break performance. With the company fitted tyres don’t even think to break urgently at and above 60Kmph. there are high chances of skidding. But wit hmy new tyres the breaking has improved drastically. Right now I have Michelin tyres running on it.

Material quality:

Material quality is very good. But the plastic parts start making sound after few thousand kms. You really need to pay attention to the headlamp console as it is quiet shaky after few thousand kms. But tightening of screws and replacement of rubber washers will make it smooth again. Paint quality is average. Electrical are good and I am still with the original battery. There are no sings of rusting on wheels, silencer or chain cover. This is where Bajaj really lags as their bikes tend to rust in 2 years.

Engine and Gear box:

Well I am not aware of the technicalities inside. The engine is smooth and runs very good. Every morning the bike starts with one kick and kicking does not require any additional power. Grease were quiet hard at first. Now after these many Kms they are smooth but still getting the bike in neutral requires a hard hit on gear lever. I regularly service the bike after 2500 Kms from the mechanic I know for long time. The bike has only first 5 free servicing done at authorized service center. I would certainly recommend to find a good and reliable mechanic rather than speeding a lot money and time at authorized service center.

Overall:

Overall the bike has value for money. But if you need any higher speeds go for 150 cc bikes. The stability and performance at high speeds can not be achieved with sub 150cc engines. The bike is very good for day to day commuters in city traffic and somewhat highway running. Its a low maintenance and cool performer. For long runs I dont recommend HHSS.
