Hero impulse is one of the few off road bikes in India. Offroad bikes were not popular in Indian market. Bajaj launched enduro SX for this purpose and it did not make any impact on the market. There was a time when hero impulse was the only off road bike in India. It has a 150cc engine which produces peak power of about 13.1 bhp and has a peak torque of 13.4 Nm at 5000 rpm. So it can be used as a dirt bike as well as a normal commuter bike. The seat height is 830 mm so it is suitable for tall persons. Due to this high seating position it is very suitable for traffic conditions as well. The bike is a light weight among the other 150 cc bikes with a kerb weight of 134kg. Overall the impulse is a nice package. But Impulse failed to create high sales in the market. The reason for this may be the people looking for a commuter or a small sports bike saw impulse as a dirt bike and the people interested in off roading did not like the underpowerd engine. If only they used the karizma engine the impulse might had better sale figures.
