I rented the VCD for the sole reason that I had nothing else to do. Now upon some reflection maybe I should have spent the day doing nothing.
’’Hey Arnold! The Movie’’ is a cartoon (if you can call it that compared to the other slick ones you get to watch nowadays)
Story
(If you want to call this a spoiler, go ahead. You’d rather not watch it unless you’re a <7 yr old. Trust me)
A old neighbourhood is going to be torn down so that a big corporation can build a new complex. So the inhabitants are asked to sell out their homes and business. But no! to their rescue comes Arnold a small boy and his friend who would rather do something else.
Arnold learns about ’’the tomato incident’’ where the people of the town defeated and drove away the English in the pre Independence time (of USA) by throwing tomatoes at them. (they truely couldnt think of anything better)
So the town is declared as a national landmark and the only document that says so is in the hands of the big shot who owns the big corporation. (He also happens to be the descendent of the English captain that lost during the tomato incident)
Then Arnold and his friend goes to see some secret-agent-gadget-manufacturing female in the neighbourhood, gets his gear and steals the document from the corporation. But then the bad guy comes in and burn the document and so Arnold just takes a tape from a security camera that recorded the whole thing instead.
Finally they reach in time (Im not going into how they got there) and save the day.
Thats all there is to it. Oh yes it also plays a helicopter chase, explosions, buses flying over draw bridges, a crummy love story etc etc.
Hey you know what! some Bollywood director might already be making a big budget movie with this story since it has all the necessary masala.
