HOMP - One for the Road.

HOMP - Highway on My Plate.

A foodie experience on the rugged Highways of India with two Maverick travelersROCKY andMAYUR.

ROCKY is the Fat Plump and Juicy one with a Ponytail and MAYUR is the tall dark and Mischievous Hunk also with a Pony Tail. These Pony tails seems to have become their trade mark.

Both of them are a riot on the streets and quite at home on the chaar pais(wooden cots) of rustic highway dhaabas.

From the Desi Ghee Parathas of Punjab to the Appams of the South, they have traversed the oft beaten trails of our paunchy truck drivers with aplomb and chutzpah.

From the traditional kitchens of Gujrat to the spice magic of Kerala to the warmth of the monks of Arunachal to the Feni of Goa to theFrothy Lassis of Punjab to the Paani Puris of Mumbai to the Macher Jhol of Kolkatta - they’ve been there and done that - and How !

They are Outspoken, Loud, Brash, sometimes outright rude - but honest - brutally frank at times and their tongue in cheek attitude may have won some hearts and caused some to raise their eyebrows in disdain - but you just can’t ignore these two bumbling Bozos - a new found talent on NDTV Good Times.

Well edited and to the point programme that focuses on the innovative and evolved cuisine of the roadside eateries across the the length and breadth of our still being discovered India - sometimes at the hands of Anthony Bourdain and sometimes with Vinod Dua or with Saeed Jaffrey.

One can but reminisce about the early ’Yan Can Cook’ and the now ’Nigella’ Feast for the eyes besides the chirpy Chinese Kylie Kwong.

Sanjeev Kapoor has lost his charisma and our other Indian Wanabes have a lot of catching up to do. Traditional stalwarts like Tarla Dalal have the talent but not the presentation skills.

This is where these two Nut Crackers have carved out a niche for themselves .. with their naughty ’Food Quote’ and highway MileStone Report Card. Check them out if you haven’t already - but enjoy them with a pinch of salt.
