I recently watched the movie Highway. This is one masterpiece of a movie. I was reluctant to go at first because of some work I had to accomplish, but went on the insistence of my wife. I must say that it was a really good decision.
I was captivated at the very beginning by the road. The credits are shown along with two separate roads, one in Rajasthan, and one in the Himalayas. The view was mesmerizing. Then there was a wedding preparation, which looked as if shot by a handicam, and it turned out that was the intention, so far you don’t know what is happening. Things get interesting from the moment Alia is kidnapped.
While the plot, by and large is an average one, the execution makes the movie worth watching. The actors, including those with smaller roles performed really well. Only two people who were not at par were the people who played Alia’s father and her fiance. Alia, other than the fact that she looked too young for her character, did an astounding job.
The comedy was all situational. The movie does not look like it is attempting to be comic. You laugh not because they want you to laugh, but because you are shocked at certain incidences that happen.
The music too was awesome. Unlike the review I had heard of the movie, the music is all good. It has some folk touch to it. Everything fits perfectly like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle arranged together.
