I have been to Hill COuntry resorts, Kodai (a Club Mahindra associate resort) on February 2009. The resort is away from the Kodai lake by 5 to 6km. The roads to the resort is quite easy to find, though potholed. The resort is spread across quite a large area and is quite green.Checking in was quite fast and the room was allotted. Room was quite decent and neat. Bathroom was leaky though. TV works if you can put in the small wire into the antenna pin, as the jack was missing.
These minor glitches you do not expect from such a premium property. But ok, they should have taken care - hope they will. There is a small recreation room with a TT table, some books, carrom etc. The restaurant is ok, food just above average for the price. Bar - is a shame, has no choice and priced over the roof. But I must give a credit to the bar staff, theyll make you comfortable with whatever choice you have there. If it was not for them, nobody would turn around. Has to improve substantially.
We have asked for badminton rackets and waited for over an hour near the court. When we tried to remind that we were waiting, they said two minutes which never expired. There are very few rackets that are good, and those taken were never returned after the games and the staff do not get it back as well. Way to go here in terms of some process not hindering hospitality. We had two campfires during our stay there. The place is neat and comfortable. It was a nice experience watching and enjoying the fire. The supervisor - who is always seen around well dressed never answers to the question asked, but says whatever he wants to.
I was given quite a few answers which made me think - why and what have I asked!! On the whole to sum it up, the place is yet another resort priced at a premium, but has left a lot to be desired. And as far as Club Mahindra holiday experience - It was just another holiday, and nothing so special "Club Mahindra" about it. Can be avoided since for the same price you can get a good experience elsewhere! Else forget the glitches and enjoy the green, food - go outside if you want taste - but there are none nearby (you need to get to the centre).
