This is a beautiful building with airy roofs and supposed swing areas. But one has to imagine more of the stories that guides tell you of how the swings existed and how there could be merriment during the rainy season.
While visiting the Royal Cluster orShahi Parisar of Mandu, we walked down from Jahaz Mahal to its neighbouring Hindola Mahal. This was used for holding the royal court and public appearance by Sultan Ghiyas-ud-din Khilji. The palace has intricate subterranean passages for escaping from Mandu in the event of enemy attack. Some of them were wide enough for use.
Located in the same premise as that of the Jahaz Mahal, the Hindola Mahal does cast an optical illusion. Of particular interest are the ogee shaped arches of Hindola Mahal which are particularly very graceful and extremely photogenic. Worth exploring the nearby ruins as well where one can also find an abandoned Turkish Bath complex.
