In the early part pf the 20th Century the Ambassador car used to be called ’’Bapuji ki Gaddi’ . It used to belong to Marwari Community and other Business communities. It later ended up as the Govt. car used by Govt. persons for official visits, travel, etc. Lately we saw hardly any Ambassadors, not even as taxis.
Hindustan Motors has now come out with this model Ambassador 1800ISZ which is not unfortunately different from it original old model which was huge and ’’rounded’’ looking. This new model’s design is on similar lines, but sleeker. It has all the new goodies of the technologically suave cars of International standards. The best thing is it’s price which is Rs. 450, 000/- which is comparable to Maruti, Zen and other smaller cars. But it has an edge on these cars when it comes to capacity. It can accomodate 6 persons incl. driver, quite comfortably, as against Maruti, Zen, which can seat only 4 persons and at the same price. Also it has a strong metal body shell which makes it safe in accidents for its inmates. Finally, its upkeep , servicing, repairing is easy and also affordable. No problem of parts and inexpensive too. Not all of us can afford cars like Honda, Mitsubishi, Ford, whose price is anywhere between 600, 000 to 800, 000/-especially when we earn in Rupees....(Except the extremely rich, or those pampered by their Companies)
Taking into account all the above plus points, IF its price JUSTIFIES its finish, comfort, design, THEN , AMBASSADOR has definitely made a slot for itself for persons with large families and a limited budget.
