Well...its that time of the year again when you need to do everything you can to keep cool. And an AC is high up on my list of things that keep you cool. I surveyed all the models, from Samsung, LG, Carrier, Blue Star etc, finally deciding on the Hitachi. One of the main reasons for the decision was that everyone had a good word for it. Because frankly there is very little technical difference between all the models.
The unit is pretty quite for a WAC, in all but the highest fan speed. In this mode it does make a lot of air noise. But then again, it is a WAC, and any way you will not require this speed unless you have a huge room or lot of people. The cooling is simply outstanding. No matter what the climate outside, this machine cools the insides within minutes. Add to this the multitude of features. Coming to features, it does have the usual ones like timer, sleep mode, swing etc. Nothing new here. So is it 5 stars for the Hitachi? Well not quite. The reasons -
The remote looks good. But is very intimidating for beginners, especially first time owners of ACs. Its easy once you get the hang of it. Even the technician who had come for installation, couldnt make head or tail of it! He said that it had only just come in and they hadnt yet got the hang of it!
The owners manual gives details on the controls, but is very brief and is in poor english. This is disappointing.
The engineer for the demonstration has not yet turned up. Its been more than a week! This is very important, if one is to use the product to its full potential and for those who dont read manuals.
It is costlier than its competitors. All in all, an excellent choice if, somewhat pricey.
