I am totally confused.

I went to the Showroom looking for a 9990 Voltas AC.


But as always, I was taken away by the branded pieces and its features.


I was told Hitachi is the best. For my room, a 1 ton AC was enough.


I booked it the very next day. RAW012EKD model . Delivery was done after 2 days.


Next day someone is sent to install it.


Guess what!!!


When We switched it on, it made noise as if I had installed an assembeled model.


I thought it was normal, until my mom came to our house one day. They had bought an LG 1.5 ton at their place just 2-3 days before I bought mine. She asked me why my AC is making so much noise.


I called up the Hitachi service centre & they promptly sent 2 persons who looked like some local mechanics working on contracts. Very shabily dressed.


I was amazed how could such people represent a company like HITACHI.


Among them, one is just a helper to pull out & push in the AC, loosening n fixing the screws while the other calls himself the Engineer. He checked the AC and said that the motor needs to be replaced.


He comes after 2 days carrying the motor wrapped in an ugly polythene bag.


Now guess what !! He notices that its a 1.5 ton capacity motor.


He returns the next day with the right capacity motor. I was happy.


But what he was about to do next really amazed me. I don’t know if I can really put this down into words, you all would understand or not.



The motor has a long black color coated cable. Inside this cable are 3/4 wires (i guess they were red, black blue..)... connecting the compressor or fan or whatever. Now this so called engineer removes a big axo blade to cut the cable to replace the motor. I told him to hold it & asked him what was he doing.


He says this is what we do it everywhere. He would cut the cable, switch the motor, & join the wires with INSULIN TAPE.


CAN U BELIEVE THAT!! I told him, ’’ mujhe ye thook-patti kaam nahi chahiye’’ I immediately asked him to leave and send a qualified Hitachi engineer. The guy says ’’we only do all this kind of work’’.


Next day, I called up the Bhandup service centre. This time the person who came atleast looked like an engineer. Thats what my wife said coz I wasn’t at home on that day. Seems he was throughly checking each n every part , vibration, sound the AC made.


Yes! I was very happy from that day onwards because the noise had really gone down, until 2 days ago, I’d been to my parent’s place. I switched on the AC. And I learnt that the next time when my mom comes home, she is still going to say the same thing.


Can u believe it?!!


They bought a 1.5 ton LG Ac for - 15, 000


And I bought a 1 ton Hitachi for - 20, 000


And that AC is much more silent than mine.


I am just sharing my experience. I wouldn’t like to comment on the product. Just beware of the authenticity of service engineers.
