Brought this ac about 5 years back so I guess its time to write a review on it as most acs wud’ve failed in this time span. I wouldn’t wana argue with the other who claim that hitachi acs r crappy. anyways on with this review. having spent most of my life abroad in a cooler climate I cudnt bare the heat and humidity here in India hence I needed an efficient ac powerful and silent couldnt find the best acs like Emerson climate or trane.
& the only option I had was a window ac mind u I cant sleep with noise in the atmosphere. browsed a few dealers and some recommended lg some voltas and some videocon. finaly decided I wud go in for an lg since have seen them in us and they cooled well. the night before I was gonna book my ac I saw the ad of the Hitachi quadricool the one of the hearing aid . next day went in and booked the hitachi quadricool 1tr. it came home the next day and boy the box was mighty huge.
Loved the looks of the ac my gf gt possessive as I was just staring at my ac n givin it more attention:D anyways the next day the installers came an had to cut my grill in order to fit the huge body. the ac was installed powered it on and well it was silent not like in the commercial but yea silent then other window units. the cooling was speechless in 45 mins my room was down to 18 degs and in 75 mins my external thermometer was showing 16.2 degs. well it has difficulties geting below 18 during a hot afternoon but then again any ac would. I remember at the time I brought this ac this one had the highest efficiency ratio of 10.6. my ac being used on an average of 12-14 hrs a day my mthly bill showed up as 2600 pretty neat ehh? I bet if id use it in 22-26 range it wud be lesser but anyways its still cheaper.
kaimin a pretty gud feature increases set temp by 1 degree every 1 hr for 4 hours.helpfull during the night when u get frozen and wake up 2 switch the ac of, this was no more the only time I woke up was for a coffee in the morning.
after sales service is pretty prompt had a probelm with my pcb due to moisture entering it during the rains and then with a swing motor no issues one complaint and its fixed. services are on time ( I dont go through the company) I have a authorized service dealer do it for me in contract.
regarding quality the ac is pretty sturdy, compressor is made by hitachi fan motor by general electric, the components are of good quality what impressed me was the fan blades normally ud find the same blades in an exhaust fan but these were just like an airplane engine.no noise just powerful airflow . ive experimented alot with this ac tortured it big time and still it keeps running. tried to forcibly form ice on the coils by blocking the air intake vents iced formed ran it overnight like that and it still lives. then I blocked the outdoor air intake just to simulate how high temps it can face though I couldn’t estimate it. till fifteen mins it kept blowing cool air and the it started dropping after 30 mins the compressor went out on thermal cutout. then I even fluctuated its voltage it still ran at times if the fluctuation was alot it wud go into protection and poweroff and come on again after a few seconds and compressor after the usual 3mins. have bypassed this 3 mins time delay and used it short cycled at the most it suffered from a locked rotor and started again in a few seconds.
anyways 2 sum this up the ac is pretty sturdy, compressor well I gave up hope trying to destroy it. and anyways the tortue I put it through I guess it wouldn’t face this during normal operation.
noise - the jerks u get them when the compressor starts up or turns of its just a single jerk showing that the monster is comin alive and goin to sleep.

filter is the basic anti bacteria filter, anyways I brought an after market filter from 3m
kaimin feature is good during the night
auto climate nah not for me but it can be a power saver
auto mode fan and temp is preset
my mode u can customize different modes like temps fan speed and save it
timer to switch ur ac of and to switch it on. say u programmed the ac for 7:30 pm at 23 degs c
the ac will check ur air temp and start cooling and maintain temps before 7:30
super cool mode the fan works the fastest and cools faster
fan settings- silent, medium (this is economical and silent to) high and auto( in this ur fan is set on high till it gets near to ur preset temp and then switches 2 med wen it gets to ur temp it goes on low and vice versa)
remote has back light 2 aid u in the dark.
p.s once I do destroy the ac id open up the compressor and provide an update
would I buy another hitachi ac?? well yea their good if I do encounter an issue my service dealer whose nw a friend is there. however on reading most reviews damage to any ac or defects is mostly cause at the dealer if u find them wen u open the box or during transport if it occurs later on then its a manufacturing defect or a technician has tampered with your ac or due to environmental factors. before you buy an ac do educate yourself on the ac of your choice as well as other competitive acs. always appear technically sound in front of a dealer buy from company authroized shops. supervize installation and servicing
