I purchased Hitachi Quadricool TM in May 2005 and right from the day 1 it started giving some noise problems. They claim that it is 3 times silent then any other AC but it is not true at all. The problems with noise is still exists in my AC today also.
There are various other quality control issues also with this product:
a) collison between motor and compressor in first week itself. It took around 4 rounds of engineering efforts to fix the problem.
b)some strange type of noises (like that of good old train that runs on coal) come suddenly and disappear.
Bottom line is hitachi gave no focus on quality control and they claim that they do 32 stringest tests as per japanese guidelines.
After this when I requested the dealer to change the AC then he asked me to talk to the company. For the last 3 months I am trying to change the AC. Now they are proposing me that they can change the AC (thanks to them) but I have to install single motor model instead of twin motor which is costlier by Rs. 2000 and they wont return me the difference due to the depreciaition. They are not at all counting that I have the problems right from the beginning.
I have wrote so many mails to Hitachi Management, send the reminders but no response.
When I called them they attended my call and gave the response to my problems by sending the engineer again and again for one problem or the other.
My opinion is there is no point in buying a AC that is twice as costlier then other ACs in the market and that too with lots of problems.
Hitachi is innovative that I appreciate. They have the features that no AC have in todays market. But Hitachi should also be responsible for the defective units that they sold.
This opinion is purely mine and my experiences with The Hitachi Quadricool TM model.
[UPDATE 24th Oct 2005]
Finally Hitachi has changed my AC after 5 months. I will monitor it for some days and will update you all.
