Never Buy any Hitachi Product

I’d request all readers to not purchase any home appliances from Hitachi. The after sales support sucks big time of Hitachi and I’ve been suffering the same for last 4 years.


I’m using 1.5Ton Window AC which I bought in 2010. While I did not find any difference in performance/sound in comparison to the cheaper options like Samsung/Voltas/LG, the biggest disappointment has been after sales service and support.


I struggled through most of the summer months in 2013 trying to get the Hitachi guys to service my AC and repair the gas leakage. But after weeks of follow up no-one appeared to be interested in server. I finally got the AC serviced and gas filled from a local vendor itself.


This year has been another pathetic story. Recently when I lodged a complain regarding service of the AC in February, the service person came and suggested that I should go for AMC from Hitachi. I raised the question on service capabilities of Hitachi to which the technician said that customers under AMC are serviced on priority. I finally agreed to pay for AMC but it was Rs 1800 wasted again.


(AMC done on 1st March 2014). The service was not done at that time, saying that when I log a call next time they’ll do it.


When I lodged another complaint in March end, then the service engineers checked the AC and said that there’s a leakage but the AC will run for another month. They suggested that I lodge another complaint in April, so that the gas leakage can be repaired, gas can be re-filled and service also will be done.


They just did a dry service at that time. They also found a motor-rubber to be faulty due to which the AC was making some noise. They suggested that the rubber will also be changed along with the gas-filling in the next call.


I lodged another complaint on April 18th for low cooling and service. This time the service engineer came on 22nd April and said that there’s no leakage. When I insisted he said that they will schedule a pick-up the next day and left. But on 23rd April, I got a message that the complaint is closed (complain # 14041801323).


On seeing this I called up the service center and registered a complaint again (14042300188). When asked about the old complaint, the service center told me that it was closed due to a system error. The pick-up was scheduled on 23rd itself but the pick-up team again brushed off their hands saying that there’s no problem with cooling.


But they agreed to send the service team to repair / replace the motor-rubber and wet-service on 26th April(today). There’s still no method of sending prior information and intimation from Hitachi’s side. When I called the service center they were unaware if there’s any technician scheduled to visit or not.


Hitachi is duping customers first by selling the equipment and then again by selling AMC on top of it. I’ll suggest everyone to buy home appliances from Samsung / LG whose after sales is brilliant and the products are as good as their costlier competitors like Hitachi.
