The Date Doctor Has the Cure

There are nerds and there are love nerds. These are the guys who just can’t seem to get the girl of their dreams. All they need is a little instruction, a little inspiration and someone like HITCH. He’s the Date Doctor with a prescription to cure your love sickness and put a cool edge on your pick up style.

While this isn’t the best movie I’ve ever seen, it was certainly worth my time. You’ll be guaranteed good laughs and maybe you’ll even pick up some tips. For instance; did you know 90% of what you’re say isn’t coming out of your mouth? That’s right; body language accounts for what you’re letting members of the opposite sex know about you and what you think of them.

If you’ve ever wanted to know what girls and guys are really thinking during the dating process, this movie will give you some insight. For the most part the film was spot on with these observations.

As far as the plot goes, it’s all been done before. Guy meets girl, hits her in the head, makes a fool of himself and generally mucks up in every way possible. And that’s the expert I’m talking about. Will Smith plays the celebrated yet secretive Date Doctor, but finds his own tricks aren’t holding much water when he meets the girl of his dreams. Yet, he does get the girl in the end, but you knew that already.

The highlight of the film for me was the character Albert, played by Kevin James, the Date Doctor’s toughest patient yet. James plays a loveable love nerd who I just couldn’t help falling for a little bit myself. He brings a delightful awkwardness to the entire dating situation and yet the smooth moves that win her heart are all him and none the doctor ordered.

I found this movie a positive and uplifting story amongst a plethora of dating flicks that usually make it all look like too much hard work. The focus was on being yourself and making some kind of move rather than doing nothing and letting your girl get away. The film took an almost old-fashioned approach to a very modern dilemma.
