Froody That’s a word. That is a real word. It is a word which as per the Hh.G.T.G. should mean something like our common term groovy or cool or awesome.
Every time I read a good book, I keep telling myself that I will not brag about the book. However Froody the book is, I will not brag. Oh who am I kidding ? I admit, I really laughed my head off reading this book and when this book spread across the office, the common term lingo became S.E.P. / N.M.P etc
S.E.P. : Someone Else Problem
N.M.P. : Not My Problem
E.E.P. : Everybody Else Problem
For those of you thinking what gobbledygook I am talking, read this book and the three sequels to it and you will be the next in line to write a review you on it.............
The Preface Starts something like : The history of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is now so complicated that every time I tell it I contradict myself, and whenever I do get it right I’m misquoted. So the publication of this omnibus edition seemed like a good opportunity to set the record straight—or at least firmly crooked. Anything that is put down wrong here is, as far as I’m concerned, wrong for good.
The idea for the title first cropped up while I was lying drunk in a field in Innsbruck, Austria, in 1971. Not particularly drunk, just the sort of drunk you get when you have a couple of stiff Gössers after not having eaten for two days straight, on account of being a penniless hitchhiker. We are talking of a mild inability to stand up.
Douglas Adams, has really taken this book to a new league of comedy and the life like characters are really amazing ..... The Hh.G.T.G. is actually a four sequel series named
1) The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (1979)
2) The Restaurant at the End of the Universe (1980)
3) Life, The Universe And Everything (1982г)
4) So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish (1984)
And all 4 books are amazing to read.... The characters never cease to keep you in splits ...... Be it Arthur Dent or Ford Prefect, be it Marvin The Depressed Robot (which is a first timer, whoever thought that robots could get depressed ?)
And my favourite VOGON POETRY which is considered the third worst in the Universe. The second worst is that of the Azagoths of Kria. During a recitation by their Poet Master Grunthos the Flatulent of his poem “Ode To A Small Lump of Green Putty I Found In My Armpit One Midsummer Morning” four of his audience died of internal haemorrhaging, and the President of the Mid-Galactic Arts Nobbling Council survived by gnawing one of his own legs off.
Forgive me for quoting the author verbatim twice, but then sometimes things are best read in the original verse ....... and I would also recommend watching the movie which stars the following
Warwick Davis .... Marvin
Mos Def .... Ford Prefect
Zooey Deschanel .... Trillian
Martin Freeman .... Arthur Dent
Sam Rockwell .... Zaphod Beeblebrox
John Malkovich .... Humma Kavula
This is a book that comes in the category of You Are Missing Something If You Dont Read This Book........ I will not reveal the plot or the idea of the book for the simple reason that the beauty of its fun lies in the suspense of reading it .....................
