Douglas Adams is one of my favourite writers, and The HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy has a special place in my heart.
This is a great book because even though the idea’s are somewhat abstract and foreign at first you can see that in Arthur Dents world, how much travelling through space with his Alien friend and depressed robot just makes sense.
The are trying to save the Earth, and understand the meaning of life, which turns out is not so simple, while being completely the simplest thing you can imagine, among other things.
It’s not the destination, it’s the journey, and Douglas Adams makes it a wild and wacky journey to be enjoyed by all!
Adams writing style captures you from the first page, and I can virtually guarantee you will love it, though I don’t particularly offer anything if you don’t, my thoughts are that you will.
This book is similar to nothing else I’ve read, it is in a complete league of its own, which is what makes it such a gem!
Other titles in the same series are ’’So long and thanks for the fish’’ and ’’The Restaurant at the end of the Universe’’
Also equally worth reading.
They are the type of books that are impossible to find at the local library because people like it and they don’t like to return it, good luck finding a copy I would suggest buying it instead! It’s something the whole family can enjoy!
