Hitler’s Daughter by Jackie French can be called as one of the best children’s book. Heidi, Hitler’s daughter is a fictional character, created by four children in their conversation, while they are waiting for their school bus. Anna creates this character, Heidi. Heidi is Hitler’s daughter. Yes, yes...the same Hitler, Adolf Hitler. He didn’t have any daughter but the children assume that he had.
The story moves with Anna’s creative mind. She gives description of Heidi. Her meetings with her father were, countable! She lives alone with her maid. She has never gone outside her home. She has seen just countable number of human beings. She doesn’t know who her father is. She doesn’t know whats going on in world. She doesn’t know what people think about her. And moreover people doesn’t know that Hitler has a daughter.
Author has creatively given his reader a moral lesson that what a man doesin his life, it not only affects his own life but also the life of his family too. Writer has shown through his characters that how a mere fiction affects children’s mind so strongly that even their whole life can be affected by it. He has been successful in illustrating through his 134 pages story that a child’s mind is like a clay, can be moulded any way and thats what can make a Hitler or Mother Teresa.
