The Foot Tapping RD: Part- 2

Continued from part 1....

Note: Since writing under the same topic overwrites the previous review... I wrote the part 2 in a separate but a similar section. Cheers...

  1. Lekar Hum Deewana Dil-Yaadon Ki Baarat: Usage of electric guitars, drums, trumpets, violins reflects RD’s influence from the west in this song. This was one of his early works. Asha’s part is absolutely fantastic. I personally thought she overshadowed Kishore in this number.

Catch Line: ’’Kahin toh pyaare, Kisi kinaare, mil jaaon tum andhere ujaale’’

  1. Mehbooba Mehbooba-Sholay: Another song with arabic chords and heavy guitars. RD’s husky voice is beyond compare. This song is too difficult to sing, really strains your vocal chords.

Catch Line: ’’Mehbooba Mehbooba.. oooooo ooo ’’

  1. Dil Lena Khen Hai-Zamaane Ko Dikhaana Hai: This song was made during the 70’s disco era and surely reflects the disco influence on RD. Here he comes in terms with modern synthesizers, digital drums and octopads. Remember Rishi Kapoor dancing on a lighted dance floor. Another song with RD singing himself.

Catch Line: ’’Dil lena khel hai dildar ka, bhoole se naam na lo pyar ka, pyar bhi jhoota, yaar bhi jhoota, khaaya hai dhoka maine... pyar ka’’

  1. Duniya Mein Logon Ko-Apna Desh: RD created wonders with his high pitched song. Again another difficult song to sing. RD along with Asha rocks...

Highlight: RD’s high pitched vocals.

  1. Medley-Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin: This number is like a symphony with four different quartets. The quartets are Chaand Mera Dil:Rafi, Aah Dil Kya:Kishore, Tum Kya Jaano:RD and Mil Gaya:Asha. With the quartets inbetween the number starts and ends with some amazing music. RD absolutely rocks......10/10 for this medley.

  2. Saamne Yeh Kaun Aaya-Jawani Deewani: This is a very peppy but romantic song. A very likeable number right from the word go. Kishore’s voice is innovative and lively.

Catch Line: ’’Saamne yeh kaun aaya, dil mein hui hulchul, dekhke bas ek hi jhalak, ho gaye hum paagal’’.

  1. Do Ghoont Mujhe Bhi Pilaade-Jheel Ke Us Paar: This is a peppy number but falls in a completely different league from the other numbers in this review. It has a very desi feeling to this song. A typical Local Indian Bar number.

Lata’s ’’thumke waala’’ song is cool.

Catch Line: ’’Do Ghoont mujhe bhi pila de sharaabi, dekh phir hota hai kya’’.

  1. One Two Cha Cha-Shalimar: This number reflects big ’’soul jazz’’ and James Brown influence on RD. I remember, as a kid, me and my sister used to dance to this number everyday. Me and my sister used to go, ’’One two three kick, one two three kick, up two three kick, cha cha.. Well honey lets do the offbeat, swing from the hips now and two your two feet’’. LOL!

I personally love this number.

  1. Chodo Sanam Kahe Ka Gham-Kudrat: This peppy but rare number was by Kishore and some lost-in-oblivion singer called Annette Pinto. If you haven’t listened to this number.. try it. This song rocks...

  2. Dum Maaro Dum-Hare Rama Hare Krishna: Last but not the least, its the ever-green Dum Maaro Dum. This song is influenced by the hippy culture of the 70’s. Its a very popular number and a song which gets better with every listen. Amazing vocals by Asha and mind blowing guitar work by Bhupinder.

Catch Line: ’’Duniya ne humko diya kya? Duniya se humne liya kya? Hum sabki parwa kare kyon? Sab ne humaara kiya kya?’’

PS: I was actually listening all these numbers while I wrote this review. The words are straight influences from these amazing numbers by the legendry Pancham.

PS: Enjoy the read and I will look forward for your ratings and comments.

Cheers....
