Holland Football Team

This team may come as a big surprise to many football fans. Holland, also known as Netherlands, has a team that is filled with stars from top to bottom. If you had to name a World Dream Team, you would no doubt pick about four or more players from this team.

Situated in the football crazy continent of Europe, Holland was unable to enter the FIFA 2002 World Cup. With stars like Ruud van Nistelrooy, Edgar Davids, Dennis Bergkamp, Edwin van der Sar, Frank de Boer, Mark Overmars, Roy Makaay, Patrick Kluivert and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink many thought this impossible. But it happened, to the dismay of many football fans of the world because they would be missing out on seeing some of the world’s most well known players in action on the biggest stage of all.

Holland has an excellent attack force. Manchester United’s maestro Ruud van Nistelrooy is up there. Spanish League’s top scorer Roy Makaay, the Deportivo striker is up there. Chelsea striker Hasselbaink is up there. Barcelona’s most influential player, Patrick Kluivert is up there. Also from Barcelona, Marc Overmars is part of the team. Arsenal No. 10, Dennis Bergkamp is there considered a legend by many. Not to forget Juventus midfielder, Edgar Davids, who is considered as one of the world’s most skillful players.

In the defence though is where Holland lacks. With Barcelona’s aging De Boer and Fulham Goalkeeper van der Sar. Other than these two, there are no stars. Former Man Utd player Jaap Stam also is of some assistance.

The midfield has a couple of stars, if you follow football that is. Edgar Davids, who has been discussed. AC Milan’s Clarence Seedorf, Chelsea’s Zenden, who has a great left foot and attacks well, and Giovanni van Bronckhorst of Arsenal who can also play defence.

If you have been taken aback by this team, then you must see Euro 2004, which is not too far away, where all these super players will be taking on the likes of England, France and Spain amongst other European giants.
