HomeTown, Bangalore Central - Pathetic Service

My wife and I ordered a bedroom set from HomeTown at Jayanagar/ JP Nagar  on 22nd April, 2011 worth approximately Rs.43, 000 for which an advance  amount of Rs.10, 000 was paid to them. The promised delivery date was  22nd May.

However, my wife received a call on 6th May informing her that  the goods have arrived in Bangalore and that they would be sent upon  settlement of the balance amount. We promptly made the balance payment  on 7th May, 2011 and were informed that the goods would be sent to us by  9th May, 2011. However when the delivery was made only 2 of the items  having insignificant value were delivered to us.

The main piece of  furniture (i.e. the cot) was not delivered at all. The delivery  personnel expressed their ignorance about this but promised to inform  their superiors. I called the store immediately and was answered by one  Ms.Samritha who seems to have taken classes on how not to treat your  customers. She repeatedly promised to update me on the status only to go  into hibernation for extended periods of time. Finally when I caught  her on the phone after about 2 hours, she mentioned that as per the  records the due date was only 22 May and it will be delivered as per  schedule. When asked that if the due date was only 22 May, why we were  asked to make the balance payment so that the goods can be delivered,  she feigned ignorance about the warehouse operations.

This is the second time in less than 2 months that I have received  deficient service from the same store. On both occasions the sales  personnel seem to be very cordial until the sale was made but thereafter  its downhill all the way. They demonstrate a very bad attitude towards  customers and totally unprofessional behavior. Needless to say that it  is quite obvious that there is no training whatsoever provided to their  personnel in customer service. The store manager Mr. Khan ought to be  sacked for the kind of show he is putting on.
