On 13th March 2010 I purchased 4 furniture items. Paid for them in full. The items had to be delivered by 7th April.
1) One of the items Shoe rack, was delivered and assembled to our satisfaction.
2) The Almirah for books was delivered in time. The assembler came after 3-4 days. He partially assembled it and said there is a short shipment of screws and hence he cannot complete the assembly. He will get them and come back again the next day. He never came. We called up HomeTown many a times, but nothing happened.
3) Sofa: Got delivered on time. the fitter came within a day. He again could not assemble it fully, as he said that the pre-drilled holes are not in alignment, he will come back again with a drilling machine the next day. He never came. Numerous calls and finally he came on 9th April evening at 7 PM, after he had fixed a visit time for 3 PM on phone. He finally assembled the sofa. On being asked about the almirah he said he would come back the next day. He did not come the next day.
4) Side table for keeping telephone: after making 3-4 calls, it finally reached our house but in a damaged status. We did not accept the delivery and returned it back. This item has not been delivered till now.
I went to HomeTown-NOIDA (In TGIP), to meet the store manager on 10th April. I was told he is not present and finally a customer service manager (Abhishek Verma) met me. He was very callous and unprofessional. He assured me that the side table will be delivered within the next one hour (by 1.20 pm). When I had asked me about the assembly of the Book shelf, he had no clue. Then he said that he would send the fitter.
On 11th April I received an email saying that the side table is not available and that either I take a "limited upgrade" or take a refund. I wrote back that you had promised to deliver the table on 10th april within an hour. He replied that he never promised any such thing.
HomeTown is bunch of cheats and crooks. Do not get misled by their various discount schemes. they just pick up cheap, low quality stuff from Malaysia, jack up prices 5-6 fold and then sell on the basis of different discount schemes. Once money is paid, there is no guarantee of deliveries or quality of products delivered.
