Recently my mother saw an advertisement on their official television channel about Kitchen Utensils and she really liked it. She called me and asked me to place the order. So I called them by the number provided in the television screen and to be frank their order placement procedure was really fast and I even got my parcel within 1 week. Two days after the order was placed, I got a phone call from them mentioning that I have won a lucky draw of rupees 1 lac in cash and 25, 000 rupees worth of gift hamper. I was really shocked as well as happy.
They also told that in order to claim the draw, I have to deposit Rupees 9000 and also asked me my bank account number, name and the like so that they can proceed further. At this point, it striked on my mind that is it true? I mean why should I pay them money if I have won a lucky draw. And also they deliver items free of charge then why do they cannot deliver these things for free. I told them that okay give me some time to think about it. I told my mother about it and she got ready to pay the amount. But I hesitated to do so because somewhere in my mind I know it was a fraud call.
Next day they called me again and asked me what I have decided. They told me that within 7 days the lucky draw will get expired and asked me to deposit the money as soon as possible. I told them that what ever cash prize I have won, you deduct the amount and pay me the remaining gift hamper and cash prize at my home.(They already had my address. I provided my address at the time of placing the order). But they told me that it cannot be done. So I told them that I don’t want any prize because I was fully sure that it was scam. They requested me and I denied and hung up the phone.
Days passed by and we forgot everything about it. My mother this time called me again and asked me to place an order for necklace. I placed the order over phone and we got the parcel really quick. The very day of the order again I got a call from Homeshop18 telling that I am the lucky customer of the month and have won a Maruti Alto car. They told me to deposit Rupees 25, 000 for home delivery or I can redeem the same by going to Chandigarh and contact on the address provided by them over the phone. This time I was really confused. I told them to give me some time to think over the matter. Without losing time I called the Homeshop18 customer care and enquire about the matter. I was really surprised to hear the reply that doesN’T GIVE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION TO THEM. IT’S A FRAUD CALL.
So, how did the fraudsters get the details about me, my address, and my phone number. And also how did the fraudsters came to know what I have ordered from HOMESHOP18. This is a good shopping site. The customer service is good. They deliver the items in time and also the product quality is average.
Just one request to the buyers, PLEASE! don’t believe if you get such calls in the name of HOMESHOP18. They really are fake and are fraudsters, spoiling the name of HOMESHOP18.
