The good and the BAD.... After a lot of lengthy consideration I bought an ‘Activa Honda’ last year, January 09. The scooter turned up as wonderful as it touted out to be. It is smooth and very pleasurable. It is more like a large toy, delightfully easy to handle. It is all that, which Honda promises it to be. Except its weakness on the wet slippery roads and jerks on the potholes there is very little to complaint. Then began the story of ‘servicing ’. The so-called free service provided by the Dealers “Sai point” of Mira-Bhayander, turned out to be very costly one. The first three free services cost me nearly two thousand rupees. Then I put my foot down and insisted on a real free service on the fourth one. Then I took my scooter for the first paid service on 29/05/10. The scooter was and still is in a very good condition as it is used sparingly and lovingly. They told me about the policy of ‘AMC’ and I opted for it, and the total bill amounted to Rs. 1243/- when I took the scooter back home I found the buzzer not working and one of the front wheel fiber covering was missing. It was very strange as the scooter was in a perfect condition that morning. Actually it dint needed any repairs, but the ‘Owner’s manual’ required it to be serviced. I phoned the service center, dissatisfied, and went back with the scooter. After some tense argument they rectified the problem they had created. But it was clear that the staff was not sincere in their responsibility and it would be difficult for me to trust them again. Honda has created an enormous amount of goodwill and brand value. Their product is greatly admired, respected and loved. But some petty minded people manning their service centers are doing unimaginable damage to the great brand. I hope the great “HONDA’ will mind it. Milton A Roy
