Hi to mouthshut community.. I really like this user review concept as its very helpful to us consumers in choosing our products. Today with so many choices and new technologies, it can be quite confusing when you need to make a high price purchase and dont want to make a mistake!!
Anyhow to come back to my review, I owned a Honda Activa for 2.7 years. then my wife wanted a scooter of her own but we were not happy with our ownership experience of activa. so after checking mouthshut reviews and some other people, we booked the kinetic nova 135 5 months ago. this review is based on my experience with both scooters.
Overall speaking, Kinetic’s Nova gets many plus points over the Activa; as follows:
great storage space underseat. this is a real blessing. also this storage space lights at night which is v. useful. great detailing.
much faster than activa.
much better mileage also than activa. 48 kmpl as opposed to activa which gives 30 or so. 30 kmpl! is too lesss in today’s day n age of rising petrol prices!!!
better price. with activa, we had to buy a scooter and then spend thousands more of unexpected expense in ’’Accessories’’ like number plate, glove box etc. this I think is CHEATING.
Nova, so far, has been trouble free. with activa we had a few problems and dealer has never fixed anything properly. they only give high maintenance spares and service bills and send us away.
nova is safer - with better headlight and better braking.
ACtiva gets additional minus points because of dealers bad attitude. this may be true only for Bombay though I see several similar frustrations on mouthshut from other cities.
so, as a user of both... I recommend nova 135 over activa. hope this helps potential scooter buyers. By the way, I am of the firm opinion that at least in cities, a gearless scooter is much better than a motorcycle because you get floorboard and underseat storage space and no hassle to change gears. also with a scooter like nova 135, you get good mileage and great power also. its a no brainer!
