Honda entered the scooter market & blessed us with an absolutely reliable scooter known as activa.
The first & second generation activas were fantastic machines with robust build, flawless fit & finish, sturdy body & trouble free performance
The craze for activa stepped to such an extent that it still carries a waiting period of 6 months
I would like to make aware about the numerous flaws in activa to all the prospective customers who own the current generation activa & the people who are aspiring to buy one.
The current generation activa has steering problem from the factory end
The quality levels of plastics used is poor
The fit & finish is poor as you can clearly see the huge gaps between the plastic panels blending with metal parts.
4.just remove the front battery panel & see the wrinkles on the mudguard on the inner side
The metal grinding can be clearly seen on the tip of the front mudguard
The metal centre crease line is clearly visible on the front mudguard.
The front mudguard wont even last for a monsoon which is indicated with rust & paint chipping on the tip
Just see the poor weld joints on the sides & the back of the mudguard.
Start the engine, park the scooter on the main stand & listen the rattling noises from the steering column
The suspension is absolutely poor.
Remove the floor matting & see the poor quality of metal footboard; will be indicated with rust marks if u wash your vehicle frequently
Start the scooter, park it on mainstand & see the rear click vibrating severely as the both the panels of rear click are of weak sheet metal.
You can easily press the side panels of rear click due to thin gauge of metal used
Major flaw is with paint job. Keenly observe the uneven paint & lacquer coat as sprayed on the body overall. U will notice the paint is scantily sprayed on the body specially on the edges.specially u will notice black edges in pearl white & silver color. Also, somewhere u will notice overcoat of lacquer which is clearly visible in hard form dripping down
There is an uneven whining sound from the clutch once u release the acceleration
The side metal panels on both sides of footboard have uneven gaps .
U will experience vibes from foot board once you will cross 50 kmph
The whole metal used in current generation activa is of thin gauge, also extensive use of cheap plastics have hampered the stability of activa while cruising @ speeds beyond 50 kmph
Honda claims 10% increment in mileage. I will say it is fooling customers. The previous generation activa was more fuel efficient
This scooter feels breathless after speeds of 60 kmph & more.
the uneven rebounce (clit-erring spring sound) is clearly audible from the main stand on uneven & bumpy roads
As a whole package, it is inherited with major manufacturing defects from the factory end due to its voluminous productivity.
23.these problems are not restricted with my scooter, basically these are persistent in all activas. Give a try & observe the defects. Im sure you will be equally disappointed as i was.
Ultimately, go ahead with Suzuki access.its a fantastic scooter with amazing power, having a punchy & torquey engine with absolutely perfect fit & finish
