I had very high hopes when I bought the Honda Activa. I even waited for three months for the delivery. I thought this being a Honda vehicle, it would be worth the wait. Even though I always thought that it looked too much like a fuddy duddy Bajaj Auto type geared scooter.. but still I convinced myself saying that the fit finish etc is good so its not a bad looking vehicle.
Anyway for the first few months, I was happy with the vehicle. I was getting mileage of 40-45 kmpl and thought its not great but will do. The engine was good, the vehicle was running smoothly etc. It was after about 8 months that my headaches started. And till today they have not ended.
First of all the biggest problem with this vehicle is it is afflicted with serious starting trouble. Many times, the vehicles just will NOT start with the electric start. I dont know some issue with manual choke or battery .. but despite seven complaints the dealer has not yet been able to rectify it. Believe me it is a nightmare when your scooter will not start.
The second problem is mileage. This vehicle is a real ’’gas guzzler’’. AFter one year of usage, now I only get a mileage of about 30 kmpl maximum. It varies between 25- 30 kmpl actually. This has sent my Petrol bills soaring. I used to have a Ki-Ho before this, and though we all complained about its fuel efficiency, this is much worse. At least my Ki Ho (despite being two stroke) gave me 40 kmpl consistently. Activa has neither the power of a two stroke nor the fuel efficiency of the four stroke.
