I am using amaze I-Dtec from last 1 year, 15k kms done till now. I get unbelievable mileage 25-29kmpl consistently(single person me as driver, W/O A/C, speed 60-70kmpl) on highways. In city it is 18-20kmpl W/O A/C. If I use A/C all the time(me as driver) above mileages drops by 2-3kmpl.
I observed mileage drop by 1kmpl for each additional persons(seats) excluding me as driver.
I think this car is rare blend of power, comfort, looks, ride, safety, mileage and price. If your budget is 7-8Lakh and hunting for aggressive, still descent looking family car "Honda Amaze" will be the amazing choice.
I have attached my real mileage photo(single me as driver W/O A/C for 100kms continuous drive on NH222). I likes this car for it’s power & mileage.
I think, there is no any other "compact sedan class" car in India has power and mileage like Amaze. You can check this on Mumbai-Pune highway- Khandala ghat. In particular while overtaking in ghat at 30-50kmph using 3rd gear you will see how extraordinary car is this!
It’s turbocharger is superb! For higher speeds though car is loaded it’s engine do not cry(Engine 1.5l) neighter the persons inside fear of stability and comfort.
Engine parameters are competent with Renault Duster, just see the figures:

I found Amaze has upper hand on road in terms of pick up/accele_45ration, less turbo lag and high speed turning stability.(Tested at 80-100kmph on highway)- Apply brake on turn and feel/test ABS, it is simply extraordinary in Amaze.
Summary: iDtec engine with TC which is the heart of Amaze is unbeatable in compact sedan class cars in India.
Each car has it’s plus and minus. For Amaze, most beautiful thing is it’s powerful engine and it’s ABS. R&D Improvement area is engine NVH level which is high particularly after start of engine for approx. 5min, later it diminishes considerably.
Design improvements needed on car interiors, sheet metal panel gap at boot reduction, Upgrade of wheel/tyre size. However all these may affect cost and mileage.
Below two things can be done to take care of engine/precaution:
There comes "add on package for engine protection" in insurance, it must be taken while opting for Honda amaze car.
Tyre upgrade to 185/65/R14, will raise ground clearance by 7mm, additionally due to enhanced tyre width, improved grip and stability makes the car excellent rider.
