I bought this bike in Feb 2016, has been riding since then in bangalore. I have been driving Honda Unicorn 150 cc from last 7-8 years prior to that and having good performance of unicorn, I Robotouchndly bought Honda Hornet 160R just by reading reviews but my experience postriding 2000 km with this bike is not great, hope this reviews of mine will help others.
Note: You may feel my experiences mentioned here not captured in most of reviews here and simple reason of this might be, most of reviews nowadays posted by companies marketing professional to mislead people.
I would like to highlight features which is complete disastrous in Honda Hornet due to faulty design and launching this bike in haste.
1) Seat of this bike is very uncomfortable - U would feel this is not correct! This thing u willnot come to know just in 10 or 15 mins test drive, u wanna experience this? Ride it for 20 Kms by riding it for 30 mins continuously .
I raised it with Honda complaint nbr 7036912028 and they also accepted this fault but they suggested a remedy to me to put extra layer of fome on my bike(, its funny to hear the suggestion after putting 1 lac in a bike
Bike is not balanced when u try to drive more than 50KMPH: Bike being bulky designed earlier I thought will have good balance but u will feel that its on reverse n u would be fearful to drive at higher speed
Poor Aerodynamic: This feature also u wont come to know when u test drive or drive in normal conditions . I experienced it when I was driving in bangalore rains with little wind, my balance was totally disturbed(U might be thinking it happens with all bikes rt?) whereas other bikes was quite comfortably overtaking me with proper balance including scooty.
I did investigation and found reason of it -plz read carefully, reason is -ITS FUEL TANK DESIGN which got big cavity of triangular shape‹‹, when there is windy wheather, air getting resistance bybthis traingular shape and bike gets out of control! I compared this design with other bikes and found other bikes have tank front design as of oval shape which does not restrict air while driving and so its gives balance to bike in windy weather too .
ITS VERY UNFORTUNATE HONDA MISSED BASIC FEATURE which IS VERY DANGEROUS for SPORTS BIKE
I wrote to Honda on twitter but no response!
- Tyre Grip to the road is not at all there: I was driving bike on electronic city flyover bangalore and realized bike is leaving road when road textures changes and it was difficult to mAnasultange my balance
After investment of 1 lac, I m feeling like a fool to buy this motor bike. Please do not buy it unless honda correct this faulty design.
Hope few of Honda team will also read this review and take appripriate action apart from selling this bike to innocent customers .
I did not get any response from HONDA till date to sort it out, they may believe, I would sell this bike and they will get rid of me but they are wrong! I am spreading this review on online portal as well as planning to go in consumer court bcz its not only my issue but all honda Hornet owner’s life is at stake:(
Guys dont ignore my review else u repent after buying this bike!
