At the End of 2011 my Search for New Bike Began and after visits to showrooms of Bajaj, Hero, TVS and Honda, i down selected Honda CB Twister over Bajaj Discover 100 / 125, Hero Honda Passion Pro and TVS Sports, and Purchased it in 20 of January 2012, I wanted to Put a Review in Jan itself but waited to make sure that Honey moon is not for two days only, so I am writing my review after Two free service / were done and my current reading at 3700 KM / 3 months . Here is my Review of the Bike.
Performance: its 110 CC engine but behaves like 125 CC and even performs like one, in first few days this was a surprise for me since I was able to hit 100kmpl, which was not possible to do so in my previous 110 CC bike and really regretted for not going for Disc brakes. Gears are smooth, but bike demands more acceleration in lower gears at lower speeds mostly in traffic. But once in highway, even on 4th gear bike is smooth even at lower speeds of 30 without braking.
Average / Mileage: After I purchased my bike, I heard from my brother friend that bike just averages around 50(on his twister), which was kind of shock to me, but instead of Putting Counter on Mileage, I allowed bike to run around 720 KM before I took it for first service, by that time I had no problems with the bike and I don’t think even Honda ASP did much to the bike itself other than regular checkups. so I decided now to start Mileage Test
To avoid false reading I went for the old method and filled the Fuel Tank Full and started my Travel, over the week I had travelled more than 500 KM and Bike was still not on reserve, unfortunately same day I had to travel far and just did not wanted to Risk been stranded so I had to re-fuel after going 560 KM without falling into reserve, since Twister has 8 LTR Fuel Tank and 1.60 LTR is for Reserve. So calculation goes like this 560/ 6.4= 87.5, mostly in highways and average speed of 55 KM, wow factor just came in when the calculation was done and I was little confused is there any problem with my bike reserve, so on my second service I mentioned this to my Honda ASP to check if everything was ok with Bike falling into Reserve and they didnt found any problem, soon to be sure I made my bike run on low fuel for next few days and Odometer indicated Red at the lowest level and bike started jerking due to lack of fuel and I immediately but the Reserve nob ON and continued, so everything was fine on that level, so Conclusion My Bike Averaged 87.5 on 80% Highway ridding even though Company claims average of just 70 KMPL . My friends are still shocked by results and I am sure many of the people reading it will also be, but the above figures are 100% True and no false claims made by me, I have nothing to again only lesser money on fuel and I stay in Goa where price of fuel is just Rs 55, cheapest in India(April 2012).
Style: My main thing about this bike is its looks, it flaunts its looks and looks better than any other 100 or 110CC bike out there in the Market, my other shortlisted bike was Hero Honda Passion Pro but Twister has the edge over Passion Pro over looks, I was sure that Passion Pro will give a better Mileage over Twister, but Twister proved me wrong Twice in Mileage test and my decision to Stay with Twister was right.
Controls: Bike feels light and even controls are lighter and did not might much difficulty on that part, but missed Engine kill Switch and Pass Light button, Grip is small and for big guys like me(5.8), at first it was difficult to hold the handle because of its small size but I got used to it later, Tyres are good enough for normal ride, but I have to still check it in the rainy season. No skids yet but it better to maintain tyre pressure all the time.
Maintenance: I use Kick start for every first start in the morning, to increase battery life, earlier I had noticed that bike sometimes requires more than one click of start button in morning, on advice from an engineer friend I have shifted to this method lately, I am using chain lubrication every 1000km to avoid lose chain and noise coming out of it, till now everything is smooth on this part no major problems detected.
My Advice: Ride bike first at speed of 40 to 55 km, and first service should be done around 750 km and not around 500km as sometime suggested by Honda ASP . Use branded Chain lubrication after every 1000 km, but also do mention at Honda ASP to do chain lubrication and use Honda Engine oil as much as possible
