STUNNED in many ways..

I felt that it was the right time to make a review of this peppy stylish mini-sports bike on Indian roads. I purchased my Stunner in 2nd week of december and I (I - meant for my bike, not me :) )was done with single servicing yet. I wish to let all the mouthshut visitors a few facts about my experience with this tiny-karizma.

Why I purchased this bike:First time when I planned to purchase a bike, the options infront of me which I felt were : Baja Avenger, Yamaha fz-16, Unicorn(sports edition)

I am 5’11’’ tall and well-built, so I did not look upon the bikes of 125cc cos it will appear like me riding a bicycle if I land on them.I didnot think of buying a cbz/pulsar/apache/hunk/unicorn basic/fiero because they may be looking very good but I think they wont appear outstanding.Eventhough I liked pulsar design a lot, I was pretty much bored seeing too many pulsars on road.

So, when I finally went for a testride of new unicornsportsedition ( ofcourse the engine is same, only stickering was modified), suddenly , for the first time I saw this amazing doomy STUNNER and I could not turn my looks onto unicorn for what I came actually.

I was pretty much enticed with the appearance of this bike, which made me to book it instantly after having a test ride, which assured me to have a good seating condition and bike looking big enough for a much big personality of mine.

Experience:

I had a pretty good and comfortable time with this blakc-buffalo(my frns call stunner a buffalo :P and I call it a race-horse ). Ofocurse I didnot go for any long ride and the maximum continuous distance I travelled is about 35km that too in horrible bangalore traffic.

To my surprise, I found that the bike’s self start works even when its in 5th gear and the bike can easily start and move at 2nd and 3rd gear also(no need of goin to 1st gear), which helps a lot when bike sudenly stops in the middle of trafic. Seating position was too good cos it had a enough wide seat. switching between gears is excellent like a barista’s pastry dissolving in our mouth (without any sort of hardness or sound like that of a pulsar) , .

There is very less noise coming out of the bike(this is the very attribute of all Honda bikes, hats off to them for a refined engine). The only problem I faced is if you cross speed of 70kmph, the bike gives a small vibration(not always) and mileage drastically falls to 30kmpl( sad :( ).So keep goin upto 65kmph where u will surely get pleasant feel.On a whole I want to conclude the following points I observed with my stunner,

Positives:

  1. Awesome LOOKS, Well-organised seating position

  2. Splitseat (sports look-like)

  3. Ultra-smooth gear-shifting, less noise

  4. starts in any gear and bike starts moving even in 3rd gear.

  5. too good handling .

  6. Suspension is Ok.

Negatives:

  1. Bad tailLamp and not so light-emitting head-lamp

  2. Fuel Tank with lesscapacity(8lit. + 2lit reserve), the tank opener valve comes out completely without clinging to the tank.

  3. Less avaialbility of spareparts( I am not pretty sure abt this) and difficult to get parts modified(re-design)

  4. Brakes were good but I felt like skidding (even at 50kmph speed)if we dont apply brakes properly( I donno abt other bikes)

  5. High price

A few specs:

  1. Mileage:

a)In harsh traffic I got 48-53kmpl. (speed of riding varying between 40 to 60 kmph), but on an average u wil surely get 50 kmpl.

b)If u drive at more 70-80kmph, mileage drops below 35kmpl(ofcourse this is a limitation for any 125cc and less segment bike as the economy zone for these bikes is 40-60kmph)

I felt very sad for not getting a good mileage at top speeds. The bike’s name as a sportsbike is offering only appearances and not thrills . I did not feel that HONDA has done a good job because by making price high and a spectacular design but still horrible economy and performance at highspeeds(>70kmph), its neither can be put into 125cc mileage bikes nor 150cc rocking bikes.

  1. Weight: Total bike’s weight is 130kg which is sufficient enough for a balancing drive.
