All you need to know about CBR 150.

I’ll make it very simple

The good things:

-

  1. better mileage than R15, Highway around 49kmpl and in city 45 kmpl.

  2. Awesome topspeed: Achieved 145kmph on straight road and 152kmph with help of slope.

  3. Revvy engine.You simply can’t enjoy 10500 rpm in R15

  4. The sound you get from the upper rev range is similar to high end bike scream.

  5. Very comfortable and controllable.

  6. Good breaking capability

  7. Very smooth engine on lower revs.

8 . I suspect better weight distribution and balance than R15.

  1. Availability of spares

  2. Most trustworthy engine and reliability.

  3. Good mid range and high end torque.

  4. Pillion ride is also comfortable if you have a girl friend.

  5. Good handling.

  6. VFR inspired looks.

  7. Good for long tours.

The bad things

=

  1. Handling is not as great as R15 v2. V2 with better wheel base and aerodynamic structure  will be able to corner and tackle city traffic.

  2. R15 v2 looks much much better(personal opinion)

  3. Low quality and plasticy switch gears

  4. Very low end torque.Their new 150 cc bike with half price have more torque 14 instead of 12.6 nm.This means moving in city traffic wil require a bit more effert than r15 v2.but by not much

  5. Very poor choice of colour scheme.Only good looking one I feel is the black and white.Sometimes the orange colour cbr 150 makes me remind of angry birds.

  6. No passing light and engine kill switch.

  7. Breaking inferior to R15 V2.but stil excellent.

  8. Less acceleration than V2, but once it reaches 50kmph.you will see that cbr is actually faster than R15.

  9. Some replacement parts are costly.im not an expert but some part realted with fuel line costs 12000 to replace.

  10. Not  a sporty look.

  11. I’m suspicious about the quality of electricals.

  12. Not very much impressed with the head lamps.but this may be a lone case.

  13. CBR 250 is avilable for same second hand price of 150.make no mistake, the cost of owning a 250 is much much higher than owning a 150.

Advice to buyers.

-

If you are looking for a new bike with sporty look and style go for R15 v2.But if you need a  comfortable superbike that can be ridden with a pillion in highway and in a more fuel efficient way go blindly for cbr 150.On delivery please do not forget to check for scratches or the odometer reading in bike, if found any of the above you can deny the receipt of the bike.

For buying a used cbr 150 check following.

-

  1. Check the fuel line for leaks or scracthes or folds or any damp situation, there might be  aproblem with fuel line and cost is nearly 12k to replace.

  2. Check for any engine vibrartion or large humming noise from Fuel injetor.

  3. Check for rust inside the petrol tank and on the exhaust pipe from begining to end.

  4. Do a decarbonising if done more than 30, 000 kms.this will keep the bike healty.

  5. use shell engine oil for better performance.

  6. Check all electricals.essential!

  7. Check break pads and suspension by testing on roads with humps and potholes.

  8. Check for disc bends while running by adjusting the breaks, if you feel any wagging there might be bend with discs.cost of repairing around 2000/-

  9. Never ever let the bike run in reserve always keep atleast the petrol level of a quarter of tank.

  10. This being a powerful bike, check the chain and sprocket.

  11. You can use a STP fuel line cleaner to increase mileage and smoothemness of vehicle.

  12. Check the switches on the difgital meter console.

  13. Shift in to all 6 gears and check if any tightness is felt.

  14. Slight loosening of fiber body parts are normal.
