Bad Car

I had a chance to drive the new City last week. We were doing the Pune - Khandala trip.

Below are some good points about the car:

  1. Good powerful AC. We were 5 people and the AC was good enough

to keep everyone comfortable.

  1. Good gear shift

  2. Good interiors

  3. Rev the engine hard and you get decent performance

Here are some bad points:

  1. Flimsy build quality. The car felt like it was made of tin sheet. The doors and boot were shaky and really low quality build and construction. It seemed like it was made in some Ludhiana workshop.

  2. Low engine power. You really have to hit the high revs to get any worthwhile speed at the cost of mileage

  3. Scary high speed ride. I reached 150 kmph on the expressway and the car was drifting side to side. Its not meant for high speed, period. I took the speed down to 120 kmph and it was okay.

  4. Suspension noise. Even small bumps and pot holes would send a resounding thwack thwack sound into the interiors.

  5. Bonnet release lever badly positioned. You have to almost touch your right toe to push the lever.

  6. Boot and petrol tank levers badly positioned. Hard to find esp. in the dark as they are between seat and door.

7.Grabby brakes.Touch the brakes and the car literally locks up. It seems over servoed or something. You gotta take care and apply pressure gently. Too much thinking involved if you ask me.

  1. Inadequate side view mirrors. Has blind spots. Why cant Honda simply make big rectangular side view mirrors instead of some designer non sense?

  2. Blind spot in side view mirror area. There is a spot nearly 1 feet across between the front glass and the front side window where you simply cant see traffic. Even though there is a small triangular glass it is serves no purpose.

  3. Inadequate steering tilt adjustment. Even though the steering tilts its was not enough to get it right for my position and height.

  4. I’m 5’10" in height and found it awkward to get into the driving seat. My head would bump the door sill. The correct way is to hold the roof and get the left foot inside near the clutch. Then get the rest of the body inside.

  5. Hard uncomfortable seats. A short 140 km ride left me with a sore backside.

Totally pointless car. Odd that it sells in large numbers. I guess there are too many dummkopf’s around.
