Honda City, well it has been one of my favorites since we bought it, and I must say that it is the best city car even after the Verna’s, Accent’s, and newly launched Linea.
The best thing about Honda has been the mileage, before the newer version of Honda city, we owned the Honda City 1.5 which was giving us an average of 16-18 Kmpl on highway and 14-15 in City. The Looks are better inside in New Honda City but I found The Crystal model the best so far in outer looks.
But as Honda can be considered as the name of Trust, and the brave part is that even in India when the prices of Petrol are so high that even Maruti Suzuki have launched the Diesel versions of its models, honda cars are still Running on Petrol, now this is what you call to stand out in the crowd.Now the review
Space: The space has never been an issue, 3 persons can sit easily in the backseat, the leg space is enormous.
Looks: Well, this is bit confusing, but out of the 3 models, now 4, I liked the 2nd one, but still the 3rd one will get 4*, and the newer one will probably get 4.5 stars for the looks, but I haven’t yet tested it.
Mileage: The best in its class.
Comfort: Again, Honda outclass Hyundai Accent and Maruti Esteem here, i’ve been to long drives in Honda city, and as we have 2-3 trips to delhi every 40-45 days, I never felt exhausted after the journey.
Power: Great pickup, mileage, engine, and everything. Just can’t get better.
Bootspace: Huge, and the plus is that its not outsretched but still sufficient space inside.
Top Speed: The top speed that I have touched in Honda city is 150, I know not enough but I have only driven it on highway two times and that too just from Ambala to Chandigarh on a 45 Km strech, so not much I could do with that, but I must say that I touched 170 on the same strech with hyudai Elantra a week ago, and mind u thats a diesel, but I know that honda city can beat elentra easily in a long strech.
The newer Verision: havent heard of any reviews of the newer version from any of my friends but it looks great, I know that the changes are not many, but still quite enough to differentiate it from the previous one.
Competitors: As of now, I only see Fiat Linea giving it a tough competition and that too just becous of looks, because performance wise, no Fiat car has really rocked in India, so Linea can be considered as just another good looking car as Palio was.I would love to break few more shackle on the delhi Chandigarh highway if I get a chance, and I hope I can touch 170-180. And I am quite happy that even after clocking down 35000 km in 2 and 1/2 years, the City still gives the same pleasure and comfort what it gave us on the test drive.
